mkobes (2027), somewhere, New Jersey, USA Jul 12, 2008 Tap @ Gman. Deep dark brown in color with a nice fluffy off-white head. Malty chocolatety bready aroma. Toffee piney notes. Malty raisin hoppy flavor. Hoppy piney notes. Full bodied. Finish is sweet. Nice beer.
Maverick34 (445), New York, USA Aug 16, 2008 draft @ ginger. Poured dark but a disappointingly weak taste for a D-bock. Watery I thought. Sixpoint usually misses for me and this was no exception. ElGaucho56 (376), USA Aug 9, 2008 On draft @ Publick House, Brookline. Pours a nice ruby with decent dense eggshell white head. Nose is predictably smokey, with a good but not overpowering wooden note, leafy german hops, mild bitterness. Very quaffable, perhaps even a bit thin. Went very nicely with the smoked chicken and corn chowder. adrian910ss (1011), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 31, 2008 On draft at the Blind Tiger. Pours a very dark amber with a medium sized white head. Aroma of smoky malt and meat. Taste is smoky with malts present and hints of beef jerky. SuzyGreenberg (934), Seattle, Washington, USA Jul 30, 2008 draft @ blind tiger - dark amber with off white head; mild hops and dry malts in the aromas, but they are mostly dominated by a chocolaty, malty backbone that was just intoxicating; drinks smooth and dry with the chocolaty sweetness coming out; leaning on the sweet side, but i thought this was terrific; BREWMUSKCLES (754), WEEHAWKEN, New Jersey, USA Jul 14, 2008 a different but altogeather fine brew indeed! mostly reflective of a doppelbock but i must say this version is full of intrigue. nice bright taste of hops which are crystal and pine in flavor and moderate in strength. looks like a doppel deep orange and brown with the berry like flavors pronounced and a respectful malt character that is quite above average. nice hop character adds to the mouthfeel i.e. carbonation. quite a normal doppel aroma yet hop guys will simply be enamored to this doppel....as i am.
