TomDecapolis (3130), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 13, 2009 Weearebeerlawnboyfriend138 for sharing this one. Pours a hazy golden amber with a smaller bubbly off white head. Aroma of plums, caramel, toffee, dark fruits and some spicy yeast notes. Flavor of raisins, other dark fruits, caramel, toffee and nuts. CUJO (339), Brooklyn, New York, USA Aug 3, 2009 RnH: tap: Pours a deep amber, slightly cloudy leaving a wet head. Aroma is strong, lots of depth with fruit a booze available. The taste reveals more fruits, plums, apricots... also some sugary creaminess like candies balanced by a noticeable spiciness. The wine like qualities are surprising in the fruit/ heat of alcohol mix. Noticeable esters, strong booze heat. Nice brew... def contributes to a serious buzz. DeadGirl (192), West Palm Beach, Florida, USA Jul 25, 2009 On draught at Rattle ’N’ Hum (NYC): Pours a hazy copper hue, aroma is of crisp banana. Tastes of sour pepper, banana bread, cranberry, coriander, yeast- hoppy in the beginning, spicy finish. It’s good, but definitely not the best I’ve had for a Quad. daknole (2810), Plantation, Florida, USA Jun 20, 2009 Bottle from JW77. 2006. Nice orange pour. Great fruitiness jumps out of the glass. Yeast, caramel, banana bread, coriander and some light citrus notes. Flavor is fairly sweet with spices and some yeasty notes. Some good decent fruit notes peak out in the flavor as well. Fun beer. nickd717 (1276), Palo Alto, California, USA Jun 8, 2009 Tap at the Ginger Man in NYC. Decent but not great for the style. Hazy orangish-amber color with a medium off-white head. Aroma of sweet malt, dark fruits, banana, and Belgian yeast. Flavor is more of the same, very sweet and malty, with candi sugar and alcohol noticeable. Syrupy, fairly full palate with somewhat low carbonation. beastiefan2k (1590), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA May 29, 2009 Finally got to this unfortunately not the aged batch I hoped for but beggars can’t be choosers. Snifter @ Ginger Man. Color is a glowing dark orange/light copper, cannot see through it. Aroma is strong alcoholic malts with some indistinct hops. It is sweet and lightly syrupy. Taste follows suite with the sweet and syrupy and a thin alcohol maltiness. Basically, its a Sixpoint without the hops. Not really sure what makes this a Quad either. GAManiac (1123), Atlanta, Georgia, USA May 25, 2009 22oz bomber from Bierkraft courtesy of mikeyv35 poured into a snifter.
Pours fairly light for a quad, a hazy caramel orange with a small, short-lived cream-colored head that recedes to a collar and leaves spotty lacing.
The aroma is boozy and sweet with lots of spices. Tons of yeasty sweetness in the nose which also lends a bit of spiciness as well. There are alcohol-soaked fruits as well.
The taste also has lots of initial sweetness from yeast and candi sugar with a big dose of fruit in the middle. The finish is an interesting combination of coriander and spicy yeast combined with a subtle alcohol burn that builds up after each sip.
The mouthfeel is thick and almost syrupy with soft carbonation and just coats the palate with fruity sweetness.
I certainly can’t compare this to most quads I’ve had but I definitely liked it though the massive sweetness and high ABV lend itself to be more of a sipper.
