goldtwins (3672), Nesconset, New York, USA Apr 9, 2008 Tap @ Fette Sau. Poured a clear dark brown color with a small beige head. The aroma was mildly roasted with a wheaty citrus. Light chocolate. The flavor ran along the same lines as the aroma just stronger with more chocolate and roast. Some bitterness on the finish. Light to medium bodied.
Mes_and_Sim (3967), London, Greater London, England Jun 29, 2008 A Sim rate (tap at Fette Sau): Lots of alcohol in the aroma. Slightly smokey, but that may be the place more than the beer! There’s something really addictive about this smell (which is odd coming from a vegetarian!). Dark, opaque colour with really nice head. Delightful flavour with a bit of perfume. Tart finish. Wheat, but not at all in the dunkelweiss sort of way. mkobes (2015), New York, USA Jun 15, 2008 Growler from Fette Sau. Deep dark brown in color with a little off white head. Toffee, nutty chocolatey aroma. Fruity hoppy notes. Malty roasty chocolatety flavor. Doughy malty notes. Crisp and clean tasting. Finish is roasty and dry. Very nice beer. Medium bodied. Drinkable. PilsnerPeter (1323), Flushing, New York, USA Jun 14, 2008 Tap at Fette Sau-served in a 16oz Jam Jar: Muddy brown pour with a thick and dense tan head. Fresh aroma. Bready, with hearty grains and underlying fruity hop notes. Nice creamy body. Chewy flavors of dark bread, mild cocoa with a hint of sharpness and roast followed by a nice dry finish making it very drinkable. Easily drank, and satisfying as a meal. Dickinsonbeer (2480), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Jun 11, 2008 Quart mason jar at Fette Sau. Pours a deep dark borwn- almost a sharcoal black, and a thin lasting head. Aroma is nutty and chocolatey with hints of roast and light toasted malts an dsome diminished fruity esters. More chocoalte and nuts in the flaovr light roast, some charred malts, yet surprisingly clean- almost like a schwartzbier- some nice doughy wehat malts and a good clean crisp bitterness in the end. This went relaly well with the food there. I expected this to be a dunkelweizen, but it wasnt anything close. I dont know what it was, but it was really good.
