RblWthACoz (959), Brooklyn, New York, USA Feb 2, 2008 Pours a murky brown. Tan head. Oddest color I’ve seen in a long time for a beer. Nose is sweet malts. Flavor is kind of funky. Earthy and slightly metallic edge. Malty flavors and a pretty thick aftertaste. Feel is decent. Thick on the liquid and a good enough level of carbonation. I am going to drop the drinkability though on this one. Sure it’s pretty good, but the funk edge on this one is almost too far out. Not my favorite from Sixpoint. PilsnerPeter (1473), Flushing, New York, USA Apr 6, 2007 Tap at South 4th Bar. Extremely deep brown pour, almost opaque, with a dense, creamy head. The extreme lacing coats the entire glass, throughout the entire duration of the brew, nice appearance. Looks like an Irish dry stout. Oatey, milk chocolate aroma. There’s also a subtle nuttyness and light vanilla notes in there. Flavor is nice and chocolatey. Milky and silky with an extremely creamy texture. Dark caramel malts are evident throughout the middle. The long finish shows most of it’s roastyness, and has lots of coffee-like bitterness. This beer seems more like a sweet dry stout, or alteast in that category. It’s a bit dry for the Sweet Stout category, and too sweet to be a dry stout. Nevertheless it is an extremely well crafted and creamy Stout. notalush (2071), Rawn-kawn-kohma, New York, USA Jan 21, 2007 Tap at bobbique - I was excited to find this, as well - dark brown pour with light making it through the edges of the off-white head - roasted malts dominate the aroma, with hints of milky sweetness - I didn’t really sense a lot of hops in the aroma, nor in the flavor - medium-bodied with a slick mouthfeel - there is bitterness there, but it’s more like a coffee bitterness - a bit of cream and a semi-sweet, roasted malt finish - nothing stand-out, but a solid sweet stout. beastiefan2k (1120), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA Jan 18, 2007 Draft at Bobbiques, poured into a pint glass. I was very pleased to find this especially in Long Island, since 6point is not to common around here. Don’t think it has been made for about a year actually. Color is black with a few brown tinges, small but strong head. Aroma is slightly sweet, strong fruity and citrus hoppiness, anda bit of milk/lactose. Taste is very nice, present roastiness, with a lot of hoppiness (again fruit and citrus). Just enough "stout" in here for me to enjoy the hops. Finishes with a strong hop bitterness. Medium carbonation, felt and works well with the hop bitterness. I usually do not like hoppy stout but for the second time 6point has impressed me with a hoppy stout. JoeMcPhee (3807), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Jan 14, 2007 Tap at Barcade. Dark black beer with a creamy light brown head. Arom ais quite good, sweet caramel and coffee on top. There is a touch of bittersweet chocolate in there as well. The flavour is quite simple, but very good, a combination of sweet caramel, brown malt and roasted barley. Clean yeast but well-hopped beer gives a herbal character along with the chocolate adn dark malts. Slick and smooth body, but no real oatmeal flavour. Very roasty finish. Lovely brew.
