| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Sep 29, 2009 slightly smokey, smooth and creamy. a bit acrid and nutty with a roasted facet to it. clean finish with spice of licorice and star anise and a hoppy component. metal aroma is not of interest and it is only moderate of body. suited well to this time of year and what one would look for with its fortifying alcohol that is well hidden. i enjoyed this one.

Subtle enough that it’s not overwhelming with a slight bitter chocolate note. Bitter chocolate again in the flavour with a real roastiness. There’s a nice kick in the finish. It’s the epitome of a stout... the way it should be. Nice full flavour in the finish. Yum. malrubius (993), Valley Stream, New York, USA
