Smell: Sweet-smelling, enormously nutty aroma. Hints of cocoa powder.
Taste: The taste is initially semi-sweet, but incredibly nutty and toasted all the while. Again, there’s that hint of cocoa. Just enough of a gentle, subtle bitterness on the dry finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: I’ll tell you what, it was surprisingly nice, at least on-tap. nearbeer (1849), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

Medium-sized, creamy head that lasts. Spicy, earthy molasses, cocoa, and toasted nut aroma. Flavor is incredibly balanced, and fairly complex for a brown. Mostly dry toasted nut; some cocoa; slight coffee; sourish, earthy and metallic molasses; delicately bitter herbs on the finish. Medium-bodied, creamy smooth, slightly watery and refreshing palate. Excellent brown ale that could be a great session beer. 21iceman40 (1731), vienna, West Virginia, USA

Medium nectar weight with ample residual effers. Flavors of leather are forward with coffee, coaco, charcoal, with a slight nuttiness. Dry with a nice mellow bitterness on the finish. Well ballanced. Had this great brew at the J-Bar. It was awesome. Thick deep rich brown color. Loved the aroma and the flavor was also very good. Deep rich malt flavor and a hint of spices thiswas a great beer for the night. Good Brew by SKA. 502Flavors (621), Louisville, Kentucky, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 15, 2008 12 oz bottle. It had a dark brown pour typical of a nut brown. The aroma was all roasted malt and nuts. The flavor was also dominated by roasted malt but also included hints of chocolate and, of course, nuts. It was medium to light bodied on my palate. Overall: I found this stuff to be highly drinkable and pretty delicious. Solid. SuperDave70 (1157), Beautiful Sunny Mesa, Arizona, USA

Aroma is rich with malt, chocolate, hops and nuts. Flavor isn’t as deep as the aroma. There are hints of chocolate and coffee. Nothing nutty whatsoever, though. A very drinkable brown ale.
