| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 22, 2008 Pours an amber copper with some light tan head that fades quickly. The aroma is floral and citric, but not pungent. Flavor is overwhelmingly hoppy, but not in a bitter sense. Somewhat syrupy body, but not overly thick. I think this bottle might have had some age on it, but I can’t say for certain. It was a very mellow hoppiness, not too bitter. Sadly, the bottle is the coolest thing about this brew... bhensonb (4355), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 9, 2008 Bottle from Liquor Max in Loveland, CO. Reddish copper color with a decent beige head. Mixed floral and resin aromas over roasted caramel. Medium body with mild carbonation. The flavor is really fruity, and lushly hoppy, rather than bitter. The flavor is exceptional. There is no hop burn. It borders upon astringency. There’s always a little sweet, but it’s really nicely balanced. Absolutely no heat. A really good beer, but perhaps not for the hopheads who wants their tastebuds burned out. Again, it’s not harsh bitter, but it’s easy to believe it’s 95 IBU. drjay44 (807), Salida, Colorado, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 9, 2008 22 oz. bottle. Pours a thin head, minimal retention, some lacing....mild nose with some floral, some resin, not as large as hoped for (pun intended) ...taste is initially mild and somewhat simple then expands into mild hop bitterness...mouth feel is OK but rather light for a double. This is a thoroughly pleasant beer, but a rather quiet double. edmajorjoe (79), Vail, Arizona, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 7, 2008 A nice looking ale with a great pour and a thin long-lasting head. It has an aromatic and refreshing scent. However, it is not one of my favorites in IPA’s because of its average taste and palate. mexicanese70 (5), los angeles, California, USA does not count | 5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Sep 8, 2008 on a trip to durango i stopped into the ska brewing brewery and was blown away. this beer has such a great flavor i bought 15 bottles to take home because they dont sell it in california ajm (949), Los Angeles, California, USA

The secret I think is that this has flashes of being an imperial red, which I love. Great orange and apple notes here, with an odd chocolate coming through in the nose. Good balance and obviously very clean water make this very, very drinkable at any temperature. tomthompson89 (1489), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
