Commercial Description:
Lacking nothing, at ten percent alcohol by volume and 95 International Bitterness Units, the Decadent truly represents all that is self indulgent when it comes to drinking beer.

Bottle. Smells soapy, piney. Dark ruby amber in apearance with a nice lacing off-white head. Sweet upfront, not spectacularly bitter, malts seem to dominate. Medium bodied.

22oz - Aroma of astringent hops, cardboard and sweet caramel. Something there that just isn’t sitting right with my nose, maybe rotten grapefruit. Pours transparent brown with a medium head and good lacing. Flavor matches aroma at first but as it warms, the astringency of the hops mellows out to be more non-rotten citrus hops. Palate is bitter and sticky. Not a drain pour, but nothing I would drink again.

Burnt orange color with almost no head. Deep citrusy hops in the nose. Hints of toasted caramel, pineapple, lemongrass, and pine. Medium to light in body, somewhat thin in the mouth. Finishes somewhat sweet and sour. At times you taste the bitterness, at times you taste the sweetness. A pretty good DIPA.

Bitter hop finish with plenty of orange and grapefurit hoppy character. Nice citrus hop nose. Thanks to Skyview for sharing.

A hazy amber ale with a very thin white head. A pleasant mineral floral hops a roma with light biscuitty malts. In mouth, a good malt base with resinous hops, light vanilla points, grapefruit and light alcohol in final. A good IPA but rather thin for a I2PA. Bottle bought at Bevmo, Sacramento, August 2005.

Picked up single 22-oz bomber from John’s Market Place in Portland, Oregon. Pours a semi-cloudy golden pale brew with a decent off-white head that has some good lacing and retention. Aroma of sweet citrus, some light caramel roasted malt, grapefruit and a touch of pine. Taste is sweetened mildly bitter, morevsweet piney hop flavor than malt. Finish has a lingering mild bitter aftertaste along with a warm alcohol presence.

22 oz. bottle. Pours a murky, deep gold color. Medium sized, off-white head with a decent amount of lacing. Faint aroma of citrus hops with some caramel. Body is mainly sweet malts with minimal hop bitterness. This beer confuses me. For a IIPA, it is so very thin.

Hmmm, I’m not buying it. This is definitely one of the blandest DIPAs I’ve had. Decent looking (albeit with faint head and carbonation), there’s little aroma and very little distinction in the flavor. Where are the hops? Where’s the big body we expect from the style? Label and red wax are cool but this is not so good.
