Pours a reddish copper with aromas that are thick with caramel malt and tropical fruit hops. Nothing too terribly interesting, but a solid nose. Flavors seem to be similar and after just a few sips I find myself wishing this were just a 12 oz bottle. It’s not that this is bad, just a bit too malty and alcohol driven without enough hops to control it a bit. notalush (2665), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 20, 2009 Another 10th anniversary beer that plays on the word "decadent" - and yet another alcohol monster of an IIPA - and I STILL bought it - anyway - super clear copper/orange - nose is more like a hoppy barleywine - a lot of fruity esters and caramel sweetness, raw sugar, earthy hops - moderate carbonation, medium body - fairly one-dimensional - very sweet at first, followed by citrusy hops and bready malts through the middle - boozy alcohol burst in the finish - not much happening here - I guess if you want to get fucked up... rustychiles (1055), Mesa, Arizona, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 15, 2009 Pours a cloudy brownish red with a soapy off white oily head and lots of sticky lacing. Aroma is big on hops, malt, caramel. Flavor is hop forward, caramel malts, hop oils, citrus. Slightly syrupy oily mouthfeel. Finishes caramel and a harsh hop bitterness. Decent DIPA. beerwhore69 (7), Northglenn, Colorado, USA does not count | 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Jun 10, 2009 For those of you out there who like IPA’s, this should be on your christmas list. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 19, 2009 You don’t find too many "just OK" DIPA’s, but leave it to these guys. At first I thought it just had a nice malty backbone, ala 90 Min, but something just doesn’t work. Maybe too malty. It does drink easy for 10% though. Pass. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 30, 2009 Mild hop aroma for an IIPA, spicy grassy with some bready malts.
