Aroma is big on grapefruit, but it seems more delicate here than usual (a welcome thing). Definite caramel, brown sugar, orange juice and tangerines. Tastes sweet and malty at first with a good dose of piny, stinging citrus hops, and grapfruit. Lots of caramel. Finishes balanced with brown sugar lingering, some tangy pine as well, and bitter grapefruit and toast on the throat. Medium bodied but pretty sticky mouthfeel. I’m glad this is a little different than the usual IPA. Sweeter than expected, and enjoyable throughout. kp (8500), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 29, 2009 12 oz bottle. Pours a medium amber, a tad darker than other IPAs. Makes me think it has an ample malt backbone. Nice lacy head but the beer itself is rather cloudy. The aroma is very appealing with notes of light fruit (apple) and citrusy hops. The taste is similar except the malt comes through solidly. Pine resin (simcoe?) in flavor. Mouthfeel is bitteringly dry and full enough to call it a double IPA. Definitely balanced to hops rather than malt (as it should be for an IPA), but the malt backbone is there. Nice job! Tejas (704), Dallas, Texas, USA

Quite sweet with some bitterness. Heavy hoppy aromas with a hint of grapefruits. Light malty notes. Medium to full bodied. Medium to lively carbonation. Some residual sugars towards the end. A bit too sweet, but still good. agillespie81 (206), Denver, Colorado, USA
