bhensonb (4187), Woodland, California, USA Nov 1, 2009 Updated: Nov 2, 2009Bottle from Archer Liquors. Pours quite black with a slim tan head. Nice clean chocolate aroma. Hey, my nose may be an uncommon nose. Near full bodied with creamy carbonation. Flavor is smooth toasted malt with treacle, coffee and chocolate notes. I’d say the finish is bitter and chocolate. Coffee ever present. It’s well balanced, and slightly dryish. Damn good ale. j12601 (1151), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA Oct 30, 2009 Bottle at the release of Flaming Fury that I brought courtesy of jbye. Pours black with a thin tan head. Roast, char, and smoke on the nose. Medium bodied with a lot of echoes in the flavor of the initial aromas, redolent with smoky char and roast character. Finishes up with some toast and a nice roast bitterness. tmoreau (527), Lombard, Illinois, USA Sep 26, 2009 Sampled at a craft beer tasting at Curly’s Bar and Grill in Glen Ellyn, IL. as part of the dessert course. Poured a dark black/brown with a small, light tan head that quickly reduced to a small ring with light film and minimal lacing. The aroma was roasty, a little coffee, toffee, molasses, and some sweetness. The flavor was similar, adding a touch of wood and light hop bitterness. Medium + body and a creamy mouthfeel. Pretty tasty. thedm (3833), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Sep 12, 2009 This bluye wax topped bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a small sized head of foamy fine to medium sized light brown colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a semi-opaque softly carbonated dark brown colored body. The aroma was hoppy and brown malt. The mouth feel was very tingly at the start and at the finish. The flavor was slightly acidic with a brown malt backing. An OK brew just nothing special. Hopper (277), San Antonio, Texas, USA Sep 9, 2009 A dark black beer with a decent head. Aroma was slightly roasty, & chocolaty. The taste was roasty, milk chocolate, coffee, & creamy. This is a very enjoyable beer & I thought this is better than the score it currently has. My first Imp. Porter & it reminds me of an Imp. Stout. omhper (12155), Stockholm, Sweden Sep 7, 2009 Bottled at Monk’s Café Wallingatan, Stockholm. Dark mahogany colour, creamy head. Appley licorice nose. Sweet, clean and empty. Spritzyness resolves the hard malt into bubbles that disappear into vacuum. Caramel with salt and resin, but all diluted. Green apples comes to dominate the finish. jbye4334 (652), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Aug 13, 2009 (bottle). Black color. Medium tan head. Aromas of roasted malt and alcohol. Roasted, malt, coffee, and alcohol flavors. Avg duration. Sligthly astringent finish. Thin, alcoholic texture. Soft carbonation. Spare lacing. fiulijn (7150), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy Aug 8, 2009 Bottle 2 years old It pours a dark color, almost black, with too much head (too much carbonation). The aroma is meaty, with some roasted malt (mild) and fresh wood; light yeast too. Medium bodied; it has some chocolate and roasted malt flavor, less bitter than most American beers. Quite boring overall.
