Pours dark with a small head; nice rich roasty aroma, vinous hints. Relatively sweet dark sugars enrich - but do not really blend with - roast and overcooked coffee, a mild smokiness, chocolate. It’s actually quite enjoyable to drink even if not a masterpiece, and rich mouthfeel goes down smooth like a 6% porter - no burn - but more full. natejgood (197), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 5, 2008 Pours fairly dark with a substantial mocha colored head. The aroma is of malt, molasses and chocolate. It smells a bit sweet for my liking, but not too bad. The flavor is a little bit like stale coffee. It isn’t too sweet, but there is a bit of chocolate flavor as well. KAggie97 (2482), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA

Aromal is stale chocolate coffee beans. Bad bottle? Cloying chocolate with imitation coffee. Thin mouthfeel. I’ll rerate sometime in the future. vadavid (131), Fredericksburg, Virginia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jan 1, 2008 Pours very dark brown, only letting light through at the very edges. Very think tan head - looks sort of like a root beer float. Aroma is of malt and cocoa, with some dark fruits emerging as it warms. Taste is roasted malt, slightly bitter expresso. This has a thick, creamy mouth feel. Very enjoyable drink. dwyerpg (2553), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 20, 2007 A little roasty and a little hint of coffee. This is pretty good. Smooth, doesn’t seem very alcoholic. Good stuff. MI2CA (1266), Noblesville, Indiana, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 19, 2007 22oz - Aroma is hoppy, chocolate and roasted malts with some vanilla thrown in. Pours black with a big brown head and great lacing. Flavor matches aroma with the roastiness really taking the lead. The tartness from the hops gives it a nice twist. Palate is sticky. Not bad at all.
