Good-sized fluffy off-white head forms on pour and gradually gives way to a thin ring around the edge that leaves touches of lace on the sides of the glass as it goes down. Aroma is chocolaty with touches of dried grain and a slight, unfortunate hint of metal. Flavor has a solid chocolate base with touches of vanilla, almond, malt, and distant but distinct hop spice. Unfortunately, this flavor presentation is a bit muted, knocking it down a point or so. Medium palate with a hint of dried fruit in the back of the throat. I’m generally not a fan of Ska products but I like this one. sersdf (1000), chicago, Illinois, USA

Instead a sweet chocolate aroma. It poured a almost black with a beige head. A roasted flavor with some chocolate and raisins. A good beer for sho. 00cobraR (1098), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 20, 2006 From what I remember from this brewery, they are not very well known for their ability to brew really good beer. This is something like the bison beers, these people have potential to sky rocket, but they need to hit the right stuff. This is much closer to "the right stuff" than any of the other stuff I have had from them. Pours out a dark black color with a tan head. Smell is malty, hoppy, roasted malts, fruits, and coffee. Taste is similar, with alot of roasted malts and hops taking over in the taste. Turns out this is a fine example of a baltic porter, one of the better ones I have had. Now if they could just dedicate having some goodness on their double IPA they would be in business. eaglefan538 (2383), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 16, 2006 Eh, another imperial porter with not much going on. In fact, maybe Gonzo has more than this (and I’m not much of a Flying Dog fan). Pour was dark brown with a decent initial tan had. Lacing was nice too. The aroma was coffee, chocolate, vinous notes, dark fruits, maybe a touch of molasses. The flavor was similar with coffee being most prominent. Coffee was a bit bitter and not so good, with a slightly cloying sweetness underneath, just not all that good. Mouthfeel was syrup-like, lightly carbonated. Residual lacing is minimal. Aroma of brownies. Full nectar w/ ample soft residual effers. Malty w/ big roasted coffee bean, slight leather, tobacco, charcoal, cherry brownies, and bakers cocoa. Theres a defined hop velvet bittering from start to finsh. The alcohol is well hidden. The finish is long w/ a slightly sour bittering leaving a heavy roasted ccoa flavor on my palate. Nice! Overall: Balanced big roasty malts. Highly recommended.
