Pours black chocolate w/ a shallow semi creamy chocolate milk froth. Residual lacing is minimal. Aroma of brownies. Full nectar w/ ample soft residual effers. Malty w/ big roasted coffee bean, slight leather, tobacco, charcoal, cherry brownies, and bakers cocoa. Theres a defined hop velvet bittering from start to finsh. The alcohol is well hidden. The finish is long w/ a slightly sour bittering leaving a heavy roasted ccoa flavor on my palate. Nice! Overall: Balanced big roasty malts. Highly recommended.

Bottle shared with HogTownHarry and GregClow -- courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a very dark brown with a small diminishing tan head. Great nutty aroma with chocolate, caramel malt, dark fruit and coffee -- nice! Enjoyable roasted malt flavour with some chocolate, nuts and coffee and a hoppy bitter finish with a touch of alcohol. Medium bodied. A very good Porter.

bottle. Well, this package really started talking a lot of shit from the first time I laid eyes on it. The wax covered cap, the bold claims in the text on the label, the sheer title of the beer, and of course the crown-adorned skeleton. My hopes were high and I made the purchase. I dropped the damned bottle in the parking lot of a hotel in SC and it shattered into a thousand pieces. It smelled good on the pavement, but that was my only impression thus far. I went back to Asheville and made the purchase again because I felt like Nefarious Ten Pin and I had unfinished business. The initial pours was fantastic. I couldn’t ask for much more in a beer, it was black with just small amounts of mahogany coming through. The dark tan head lasted for the entire 20 minute drinking session. The aroma was decenently full, stongly malty. It was rather musty, but milk chocolate, old coffee, and cherries came through. The flavor was a bit flat. That was my only complaint. A hard, bland, generic coffee-esque British porter note is predominant. There is a bit of sweet chocolate malt in the background, some tangy fruity notes, there’s soy sauce throughout. It’s not bad at all. Really, I enjoyed it. But for the inflated price tag ( mostly due to Winehaus being a rip off) and for the trash talk that the label brings, it was mildly disappointing.

Bottle shared with HogTownHarry & blankboy - courtesy of HogTownHarry. Deep brown with a small tan head. Aroma is very nice - sweet, roasty, nutty, with great coffee notes. Very tasty as well - lots of chocolate and coffee, with a dry, woody finish. Hides the alcohol pretty well. A very nice porter.

22oz bomber, no date. Pours basically black with a quickly dissipating tan head. Aroma of chocolate, molasses, roasted malts, a little coffee, some oak. Taste is the same with a little bit of sour acidic fruits. Too watery with too much chalkiness, and too flat. Not very spectacular.
