This was a very dark brown pour. The flavor smokey, and a bit salty. pretty nice chilehead (186), Laguna Niguel, California, USA

Very nice imperial porter, one of the first imperial porter’s i’ve had. Poured dark brown. Flavor was smokey with root beer and sunflower sead notes and a medium body. beerbuzzmontreal (2911), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Dec 1, 2005 Pours a pitch black color with a ring of light brown lace. Aroma of coffee and chocolate. Flavor of DMS, chocolate and alcohol with some coffee. The palate is light and oily, the carbonation level is low. It has interesting elements but the DMS ruins it for me. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 1, 2005 I love the periwinkle blue hand waxed top. The pour was burnt umber with a fast dissipating light tan head. Aroma of big dark chocolate and coffee, molasses, some hazelnuts. The flavor was creamy roasty malty, with chocoff, some hoppy black pepper notes, and a very minute cherry tartness. A tad light on the palate for an Impy porter, but not bad at all. wilkie (1191), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 28, 2005 Bottle. Dark, black with small off-white head. Aroma is roasty. Flavor is similar, lots of chocolate/coffee up front. Hops don’t really seem to be there to me, except for a little tongue tingling in the aftertaste. Alcohol seems to be about 5-6% to me as well. S’ok, but not really all that special. MartinT (5055), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 27, 2005 The Lure: Raisins covered by ample molasses. Roasted malts prevail, but nascent DMS hovers and bothers.
The Festivities: Roasted malt flavor and bitterness surrounds the molasses’ sweetness. Vinous, grapey fruitiness battles the DMS, but resigns. This bottle has many flavors to distract you from the problems, but ultimately the latter catch up and nag you immensely.
Transcendence: One rotten fruit in the basket ruins the picture, doesn’t it? Ughsmash (4032), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 17, 2005 Bomber. Poured a deep maroon with a quickly-receding beige head. Baker’s chocolate, cherries, coffee, citrus hoppage, and some dark fruit found the nose, however rather subdued for the "wickedly outrageous" description. Flavors were really about the same... with chocolate, coffee, and Cascade hops packing the most punch. Pretty smooth on the palate with hop and coffee bitterness. Nice chocolate and citrus finish. Nice porter that hid its alcohol well. Dough77 (777), Aurora, Illinois, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 1, 2005 Dark brown on the verge of blackness, with minimal brown head that dissipates quickly. Aroma of dark chocolate, caramel, some dark fruit, and coffee. Flavor is similar, but not quite as....good as I was hoping. not bad, but just average.
