Draught. Dark brown/opaque with thin brown head. Nose and flavor are rich in coffee, molasses, and chocolate. No sweetness or hop bitterness.

22oz bottle. A bit thinner than expected, both in the appearance and on the palate. Thin, oily licorice and light smoke flavor. Overall very light, lacking a robust character. Finishes a bit lactic and acidic. Unimpressive.

A damn good porter, albeit not sure what makes it Imperial. Along the lines of the classic but ever loved Taddy Porter. Starts off with a deep dark black pour with some smallish tan head that leaves a ring as you guzzle this beauty down. Aromas are very rich. Coffee, molasses, chocolate, raisins, vanilla, brown sugar, and toast are waiting to tingle the nose. Man does this taste good. Smooth, creamy and delcicious. Nice profile of malts with chocolate and coffee dominating, and a nice hint of brown sugar sweetness and vanilla to make things interesting. Finishes with some bitters and a distinct earthiness. So good. Lighter in body thatn expected, but that does not detract at all from this fine concoction. Body is often overated anyhow, and this is not anything out of the ordinary body wise for the style. Yum yum.

Bomber poured a dark as night black with a short lived brown head. Aromas of bittersweet chocolate, coffee, mollasses, and burnt malt. Palate was thin for the style, but not to bad. Flavors of coffee, mocha, abit of burnt malt with a slightly dry, moderatly bitter finish.

Deep garnet with a foamy, tan head. Chocolate, pine resin, caramel, coffee, raisin, molasses, burnt grain, cardboard and a hint of vanilla. I really like the aroma; it’s got much more going on than I expected. And the 8% ABV is not detectable to my nose. Layers of malt and round, lush hops. Oh, but the body-the body is weak thin and seriously lacking. Unfortunately, it’s not much thicker than water and leaves much to de desired. The flavor isn’t terrible, but you get the feeling that a more robust body could deliver so much to satisfy the tongue. The layered malts still exist ane the plentiful hops keep the sweetness from overpowering. The alcohol continues to be non-existent. All told, this could be an excellent beer, but as it stands, the lack of body seriously detracts from the overall product. Too bad.

Bottle graciously supplied by Miguel, BBB63 at a Kuhnhenn gathering a long, long time ago. This beast pours a deep chestnut color with just a bare hint of ruby when back lit. roasted barley aroma, coffee. Medium to full bodied, I would have guessed this a stout if blindfolded. Very roasted flavors, alcohol is hidden well. Nicely done.
