Nov 17, 2004 A red brown beer with a light brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of coffee, alcohol, roasted malt, and some chocolate. The flavor is sweet on a dry background with notes of coffee, wood, chocolate, and alcohol. The finish is like bitter chocolate.

Nov 26, 2007 (Bottle 65 cl) Courtesy of nicolascage. Clear, dark brown with a reddish hue and a rough, off-white head. Vinous aroma of roasted malts. Full body rich in sweet, roasted malt, some dried fruit - prunes in particular - and a subdued bitternes. Pleasant alright. 201107

Nov 21, 2007 RB#2222: 22 fl oz bottle. Pours deep brown to black and with a dense light brown head. Roasted malt, chocolate and slight hoppy aroma. Flavour is dry liqourice and slight roasted malt flavour, but dominated by liqourice. Finish holds a nice hoppy bitterness breaking the dark malt and liqourice note. Nice one.

Sep 7, 2009 Bottled at Monk’s Café Wallingatan, Stockholm. Dark mahogany colour, creamy head. Appley licorice nose. Sweet, clean and empty. Spritzyness resolves the hard malt into bubbles that disappear into vacuum. Caramel with salt and resin, but all diluted. Green apples comes to dominate the finish.

It pours a dark color, almost black, with too much head (too much carbonation). The aroma is meaty, with some roasted malt (mild) and fresh wood; light yeast too. Medium bodied; it has some chocolate and roasted malt flavor, less bitter than most American beers. Quite boring overall.

Sep 10, 2005 (22oz bottle) Clear red-brown body with small tan head. Aroma is medium sweet, chocolate, raisin. Taste is medium sweet, chocolate, light raisin. Medium body. I guess the alcohol is what makes this an Impy, but this is quite thin for the designation. No idea how this beer is rated so highly.
