From the aroma, I could tell it wasn’t going to be that malty. I was right. Disappointed at this being an imperial porter, when the body was so thin and the complexity was lacking. Aroma was decent with some chocolate, and very light dark fruit. Not buying this one again...

Poured with a nice fluffy, frothy, foamy, tan head and lots of lace. Color isan opaque dark brown almost black. Aroma is earthy, funky, tangy, rich, nasty, good, yet bad. Flavs the same. Baltic Porter? maybe. Shat’s good. let’s not get too hinky. good solid finish good bye. ksurkin (408), Norfolk, Virginia, USA

Well carbonated with a dry sweet funky finish. A good porter, but not a robust one I come to expect from this style. rcasta (491), El Salvador

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 21, 2009 Pours a dark brown almost black color with a thin head. Intense chocolate and coffee aromas with some toffee and fruit as well. Chocolate flavors dominate followed by the roasted coffee and some fruit to balance it out - carbonation was just right. I was very tentative about trying another beer by SKA since I thought the Nut Busta Brown was one of the worst beers I have had in recent memories - but as much as I didn’t like that beer - I liked this one. Glad I was able to put aside my prejudice and try this one - it was a great beer. Angelmonster (23), Colorado, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 12, 2009 Aroma is of sweet chocolate malts. I’m also picking up some honey and hersheys syrup. No hops are detected
Pours a big 2 finger chocolate head. Body is pitch black in color. Head retention and lacing were above average, not that great
Flavor is of chocolate malts, slightly roasted. Some hops and bitter coffee come in midway. There is also a burnt smokiness that shows up as the beer warms up. Alcohol provides some warmth at the end. Dried dark fruits come in and out, this beer is surprisingly complex
Mouth feel is nice and medium bodied. Beer is well carbonated. Wish head contributed more to the mouth feel of the beer, creaminess wasnt really there.
Overall was pretty good. For an 8% beer it was rather light and the alcohol wasnt very present. Had the regular ten pin porter about a week ago and this is a much improved version of it, at 6 bucks a bomber very much worth the price bhensonb (4371), Woodland, California, USA

Nice clean chocolate aroma. Hey, my nose may be an uncommon nose. Near full bodied with creamy carbonation. Flavor is smooth toasted malt with treacle, coffee and chocolate notes. I’d say the finish is bitter and chocolate. Coffee ever present. It’s well balanced, and slightly dryish. Damn good ale. j12601 (1340), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA

Pours black with a thin tan head. Roast, char, and smoke on the nose. Medium bodied with a lot of echoes in the flavor of the initial aromas, redolent with smoky char and roast character. Finishes up with some toast and a nice roast bitterness.
