Commercial Description:
This English Special Bitter is our “Special Ale.” Special because it is one of only a handful of canned microbrews in the nation. Special because the Galena hops and pale ale malts create a crisp first sip, a hoppy tongue, and a malty sweet finish. Though “bitter” is part of the name, “better” would be a more accurate term. Fresh and lively, this canned beer suits the needs of any outdoor enthusiast. Like it says on the can: Fish, Luau, Golf, Raft, Toboggan. Ska can!

My favourite beer right now. Rich, full bodied. Good flavour and palette that are not too overpowering. Above average alchohol content. And easily recycled can!

12oz can. Pours very clear with a nice chestnut color to it. Great looking carbonation and head. Makes me look forward to drinking it. Malty aroma with a touch of sweetness. Nutty malty flavor with earthy hops piled on top. Though that is not my favorite profile it is quite good in this case and there is nothing off at all. Good carbonation level for the style, medium body. Lingering malty finish. A solid brew.

Got the beer at the craft brewers conference. 12 ounce can. Pours a clear light copper color with a white head, soapy lacing. Aroma has light malt quality to it with a slightly grassy note. The flavor is balanced and drinkable with nice hop and malt flavors. Well made and drinkable beer.

Pours a hazy amber with big frothy light cream head and fair lacing. Aroma of sweet corn and faint butter. Flavor has some diacytel, but in a good way. Sweet maltiness, grass. Twinge of hop bitterness on the finish. Nice, I rather enjoyed this.

Amber pour with an off-white head. Malty aroma and hops. Nice flavor=soft carbonation, malt, a little hops. Leaves a nice mellow aftertaste. Easy drinking. Nice lacing on the glass.

The Dan Journal #290. Tasted August 2009. 12oz Can. Hazy with a golden amber hue. Clinging off-white head. Fruity aromas with an apple note. More spicy than anything else. Medium bodied with a good, medium rye bitterness mixed in with the rest of the toasty malts. initial malt bill has flavors of maple and cereal grains. Then the bitterness really rips down the tongue. Nice bitter and dry finish. I thought this was quite nice.

The disembarks the 12-ounce can a cloudless amber with a portly light tan head that is frothy in texture, after its eventual demise the lace forms an obfuscating sheet upon the glass. Nose is fresh fruit, sweet malt, crisp and clean with the start sweet and the malt profile adequate, the top is middling in feel. Finish is mildly acidic and the hops personable in their spiciness, aftertaste is quite dry and long lasting, a decent drinking beer and would make a fine session beer.

12 oz CAN! Here we go, another colorado beer in a can. I dont understand how Ska can do this, when this is the only beer in their lineup that is canned. pours a beautiful orange hue with a foamy white head with some slight haze (canned conditioned? HA!). great lacing from the start-nice cascading sheets. Citric aroma-big pineapple, green apples, orange and mango. not really an ESB by style, more a sweet APA. This beer has lots of fruit flavors with a resiny/dry finish. This is a pretty solid effort from Ska and I would definately drink this again. Has some slight metalic notes that mimic hops at times.
