A below average stout, but glad to have had it as I never heard of this brewer. Aroma was a little weak but could pick up hints of coffee and chocolate malt. Pour was a flat black with no head or bubbles. Taste was as the aroma suggested. Mostly chocolate malt with some coffee bitterness in the aftertaste. This beer could use some carbonation. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 30, 2007 Aroma is a dry burnt scent. Color is a deep black with light carbonation and a thin tight head. Taste is roasted and sweet. Starting with a medium body it goes down with sweet feel that turns to a somewhat sharp and sweet roasted taste and ends dry with a faint bitterness. Overall its a nice stout, not great, its a bit sweet but its still a nice drinking brew. nearbeer (1834), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Oct 9, 2007 12 oz, bottled 3rd week of June. Opaque black with a small head that flits away. Aroma is charred wood and molasses with a metallic, acidic twang. Flavor is cocoa, sourish milk, smoky char, earthy metal, coffee. Palate is light, sorta smooth, but airy and watery. Fair flavors, but more body and head retention would do this beer wonders. tronraner (1916), Seymour, Tennessee, USA

The aroma is on the sweet side with some coffee and roasted nuts, maybe almond, and some raisin. The flavor is cold coffee, light caramel, a little bit of brown sugar and breakfast cereal. The finish is slightly nutty. The mouthfeel is kind of strange- smooth but really thin. Ok. aubreya (676), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA
