Belgian yeast aromas. Sharp and crisp upfront although slightly chalky. Lasting bitter finish. Alcohol well hidden, but felt...certainly not a dubbel, but classifications aside has a nice crisp flavor. ucusty (1919), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA

Yeast aroma, malty, medium to light mouthfeel. Based on Greman style, but not really German style. Not a bad one, but also not representative of the style. shigadeyo (2263), Harrison, Ohio, USA

Serving: 22 oz bottle sealed with yellow wax.
Event: Tasting with Rob.
Location: My house.
Tasting Notes
Aroma: Light honey, lightly fruity.
Appearance: Pale golden color, slightly hazy.
Flavor: Light honey, strnage fruitiness, grainy, some dryness in the finish.
Palate: Very light, average carbonation.
Overall: I’m not really sure how to classify this beer as it’s characteristics don’t really fit well into any Belgian (Dubbel, Strong Ale, or Golden Ale) category. It has nice packaging, but it is extremely overpriced for average/below average beer! I didn’t really care for this beer very much... hellbilly (1566), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 21, 2007 almost no aroma. little bit peppery and yeasty with a light dried apricot flavor. kind of a boring brew. a disappointment. DuffMan (2778), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, Canada
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 11, 2007 Clear brassy-gold with a moderate bubbly head that fades fairly quickly. Pretty bland aroma of dried hay. Lighter palate than expected for the alcohol content, faint tropical fruit and pear flavour with semi-sweet malt structure and a dry finish. This has no characteristics of an abbey dubbel, it is more like a golden ale bordering on an american strong ale (but without a lot of hoppiness). Despite the identity crisis, I still liked this beer. RedHaze (370), Where the hell am I?, Nebraska, USA

Pours a slightly hazy pale orange with a quarter inch head that falls quickly to a spoty cap and ring. The lacing is actually much thicker that I was expecting from the remaining fam.
Smell; slightly fruity with pineapple and apricots and a light touch of honey. Some chalky yeast is present and it’s a bit phenolic, especially as it gets warmer.
Taste; the apricots and pineapple are just as evident in the flavor as they were in the aroma, but I think the honey is a bit stronger and adds just a bit more sweetness than I would really like. There’s a bit of a peppery spiciness that fades quickly to the chalky yeasts and phenolic flavors, that end up making this a bit of a chore to finish.
Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied, and a a little on the syrupy side, and the drinkability suffers because of it.

| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Mar 12, 2007 Really light pale straw golden color. Slight hop and malt nose. Very weak nose all around. Smells like some bubblegum and graham crackers stuck underneath my bed for about seven months and then taken out and put in a humid room. Tastes not much better. Soapy lemon water with a funky aftertaste like socks and moist drywall. Sweet n Low kinda funk. Man, I really regret buying this.
