Tejas (600), Dallas, Texas, USA Apr 10, 2008 Looks killer. Creamy palate. Roasty flavors but to much alcohol hot flavor for me, unfortunately. Don’t know the ABV but it packs a punch. I’ll be sure to drink slower next time, assuming I order it again.
IrishBoy (2127), Bakersfield, California, USA Jul 1, 2008 Handbottle from Enniskillen; Nose of chocolate, roastiness, very light smokiness, and ligh flowery hops; clear very dark brown with a small cinnamon-tan head; flavor is light hop bitterness, lots of chocolate, caramel, oakiness, and some alcohol. Finish is light alcohol and bitterness. Pretty good shit. texasbartender (151), Sugarland, Texas, USA May 22, 2008 The beer pours an opaque black with a thin brown head that is mostly lasting. The nose is a rich mix of dark fruit, burnt sugar, sweet malts, caramel and wood. The taste was a deep mix of acidy balanced with sweet notes and a smoke overtone, you can get a flavor of dark stone fruit, caramel, smoke and oak. The mouth feel is deep and rich. Overall a good beer. ChainGangGuy (1536), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA May 20, 2008 Appearance: Pours a dark brown, near black body with a tall, khaki-colored head.
Smell: Rich malty nose with notes of milk chocolate candies, dark caramel, flaked barley, and sweet licorice.
Taste: Smokey dark maltiness with tastes of chocolate and caramel. Chewy sweetness. A spadeful of top soil. A spicy, earthy bitterness that’s a touch acrid latches on a pulls you away from the heavy malts for a moment before returning you for the bittersweet chocolate, smoked anise finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: Not bad, Skagit. A respectable imperial stout. Ando (105), Woodstock, Georgia, USA May 19, 2008 *did not mind would not buy*
aroma: mild some booze some dark malt some hops.. very simple. app: black garnet not opaque flavor: creamy and fluffy hops are there in the back o the mouth.. whats up with washington stouts?? smoke dark malts.. besides the fluffy creamy thing its just..ok..booze in the finish also. palate: very fluffy! very nice. OA: its good. i liked it better as i drank it. BeerZack (116), Austin, Texas, USA May 15, 2008 Pours pitch black with creamy tan head, at least one-finger that leaves fine lacing.
Sweet vanilla scent is most prominent, almost a bourbon barrel vanilla smell. Hints of toffee, caramel and molasses. Some banana and spicy bubblegum; milk chocolate.
Rich and slightly roasty malty goodness. Toffee and caramel with a salty edge and earthy hop bittering.
Smooth and creamy mouthfeel, still with a decent amount of carbonation. This was a surprise, very drinkable and excellent mouthfeel.
