Cloudy, peach amber haze with a crisp glaze of head. Mild aroma of candi malt and barely perceptible hops. Flavor tips in flavor of sweet candi malt with perhaps a touch of sulphur. Bittersweet with tannic bitterness. Decent, but unremarkable. scrizzz (1333), kirkland, Washington, USA

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 20/20 | Jul 21, 2007 Enjoyed a pint of this one on draught at the bar at Ivar’s Mukilteo Landing, in Mukilteo, WA. Pours to a hazy, deep caramel color, with a thick, creamy, off white head, and a moderate amount of carbonation. Lots going on in the nose, with big flavors of toffee and caramel, paired with citus and piney hops. The palate is firm, with lots of big sweet malty/toffee, and bready malt, paired with some piney/cirtus hop tang, that balances the cloying malt character, and lifts the sweetness off the palate. This beer finishes with more really good sweet malty and tangy hop flavors up front, then ends with a zesty burst of piney hop bitterness that lingers. Excellent beer, with lots of malt and hop character. Mule has a kick, and it hides it 7% abv well, so beware. Very drinkable beer that makes an excellent after work beer to sip at the bar, and a great beer to relax and unwind with. jdp (54), Texas, USA

Nice darker amber color with a good creamy head. Has an almost candied like malt taste mixed with a nice strong hop flavor. This is very drinkable and has a great finish that has you ready for the next sip. after4ever (2828), Brier, Washington, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 1, 2007 Draft at Fred’s Rivertown. Pours deep murky amber with a thick moussy white head--looks like a nitro pour, in fact. Sweet floral and grassy notes on the nose, very mild. Fred’s lists this as an IPA, which took me by surprise a little bit, and now I see why--ASA makes a lot more sense. Not quite as many different flavor notes on the mid-palate as you might expect in an ASA, but the attack is firm: full-bodied, abundant carb, clear and strong flavors. Mild sweet finish. This is a pleasant drinkable beer I could pour all day and probably wouldn’t walk around the corner to get--it’s kind of in that middle ground of well-made but unexceptional.
