If this is their idea of bold, I can’t help but worry about Unibroue’s fate. Pale amber colour with fizzy carbonation and an off-white head that falls back to a thin lace. Metallic hoppy aroma, some maltiness is apparent, but not much and there is a slight sourness. Thin-bodied and with faint vanilla notes over a thin caramel malt. Generally quite shitty. | 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Jan 1, 2006 Clear copper body with a slender beige head. The aroma is faint, a lightly toasted amber malt. No hints of hops here. The flavor is a lightly roasted malt with an odd rusty taste, leaving a not too pleasant metallic aftertaste.

| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | May 7, 2004 Medium copper or "amber" colour. Very poor head. Very light but warm caramel malt aroma. Flavour is a blend of oak, caramel, smoke and roasted malt. Unfortunately I find the body and the flavour to be too thin. It is like a thinner version of Shaftebury Rainforest Amber Ale (now owned by Sleeman). Or possibly a light bitter. It does have a light hop finish. Like all of the other sleeman beers I’ve had, it is punched from the same mold with more character in the colour of the beer than anything else. Certainly among all the amber ales I’ve tried, it would occupy middle of the pack at very best, and that’s being generous. Crit (2404), New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada
