The aroma is old corn, soap, and dishwater and the flavor is light malt with a big metallic hint. Just has nothing going for it. Cirrhosis (621), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
| 1.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 2/10 | 3/5 | 5/20 | Aug 7, 2009 This beer is crap especially for an IPA, Sleeman’s should be embarrassed. Bright pale gold body with a white film floating on top completely wrong for the style in my opinion. Skunk-a-reffic stench coming from my glass of unhappiness resting in front of me I don’t look forward to what the next 15 min will bring. Malts taste darker then the beer looks but are extremely sweet almost undrinkabley sweet. Beer has more resemblance to a Euro trash lager then an IPA. Skunk is noticeable in the taste and there is a somewhat bitter finish. I hate this beer and everything it stands for. trayns (242), Beverly Hills, Michigan, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Jul 5, 2009 Bottle. Aroma is mild hops, but lots of malt caramel sweetness and nutty fruit notes. Taste has lots of malt body up front, and a good hoppy backbone. A little maltier than other pale ales or ’IPA 46s’ I have had, but a decent drink overall. thepegjett (98), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada

A - clear golden color with a frothy white head
F - proper bitter flavor, but a bit too sharp for my liking
P - smooth
O - good effort, but it is a bit to bold johndoughty (2159), cheslyn hay, West Midlands, England
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jun 24, 2009 Bottle. Orange with some fruitiness. Hops are there as well but this a quite gentle beer compared with some others of this style. Quite pleasant. Cole (311), , Alberta, Canada
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | May 2, 2009 Dull aroma, slightly floral. pale amber colour and not much of a head. Crisp and smooth, hoppy and bitter. Very dry finish. I am very impressed. Nice work slemmans. Your IPA is pretty good. A hell of a lot better then Alexander Keiths so called IPA. | 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | May 2, 2009 Dosen’t smell anytthing better than sleemans’ with hops. Looks like regular sleemans’ and tastes like any old sleemans with the ’x’ flavour being hops. No particular kind, just a general hops flavour. Taste’s ok, but overly compartmentalized flavour reminds me that this brewery is now owned by a ’uge MNC and the recipies have been scrutinized too much and are lacking in robustness. I shed a tear for the sleeman’s of yesteryear. hobbersr (412), Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 30, 2009 Pours a coppery orange with a one and a half finger sized white head. Sweet malt and a good amount of Golding hops. Apples, honey, and spice. Tastes, actually pretty good (for a Sleeman product). A good balance of sweet and bitter. Nice mouth feel. Sticky, in a pleasant way. Really a quite nice traditional IPA. I really didn’t have high hopes for this one, but this one surprised me! Not bad at all!
