Commercial Description:
This extra smooth, light lager is made from the finest domestic and imported ingredients. Brewed in the Sleeman tradition, Sleeman Light delivers the distinctively smooth, refreshing and clean tasting quality you would expect from a premium beer. (NOTE: This beer was introduced in August, 2006 and is a different beer from the older Sleeman Premium Light.)

Bottle (341ml - clear). Shared with blankboy, GregClow and tupalev, my bottle. Pale clear yellow, no head, flat; ugly-looking - BOO, Sleeman! Thin aroma of varsol, stale malt, corn syrup and cardboard, sour cheap grain on warming. Sour, sugary taste, harsh, weedy, happily quick finishing. Incredibly watery body, lightly carbonated, ugly harsh aftertaste - this is weak even for Sleeman. Please get into the friggin’ alcopop business and stop making "beer."

Clear bottle 341 ml
Note: this is younger brother of Sleeman Premium Light.Poure medium bright white cap with short live span. Clear, pale golden lager below.
More potent than other marketed “light” beers. Grainy with sweet pale malt. Straight plain with low to no hop accent.4-/10
Thin bodied, highly mineral in character softened by softer pale malts. Sweet corn overlaps at end. Small step above other “light” macros but not by much.

2008-08-10. Very pale yellow, muted pale malt in the aroma and flavour. Flavour is surprising clean, though also not surprisingly bland. Average palate. Meh. Bottle, Toronto Festival of Beer

Bottle shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow & tupalev -- courtesy of HogTownHarry. Oh boy, this should be good. Pours a very pale yellow-gold with a small diminishing white head. Aroma: yikes! A grainy sour mash -- awful. Flavour: Holy crap that’s bad! Overly grainy, watery, too sweet and blended with excrement. Light bodied. Complete garbage.

[1580-20080810] Tap. Skunky grains and plastic alcohol aroma. Clear, orange yellow body with a medium-lasting foamy white head. More skunky grains in the flavour with a bit of mild alcohol and not much else. Light body. Poor.

Well, this was the first swill rating I have encountered for quite some time - here goes. Bottle sampled with GregClow, Blankboy, Hogtown Harry, Harry’s bottle. Pure skunk aroma, awful awful awful. Very light yellow, as light as it could get while still being recognized as sort of yellowish. Taste - very light malt, grain like quality. What a truly awful beer from a craft beer pioneer, which makes it even worse. How does John Sleeman go to sleep each night after recording his radio commercials for this crap? (editor’s note: on a pile of money) Found on page 585 of the historic Sleeman Family Recipe book no doubt, right after the old style famine potato porter and just before the I’m going to rise from the grave and kick my grandson’s sold out ass Pale Ale.

Bottle shared with HogTownHarry, tupalev & blankboy - HogTownHarry’s bottle. Sickly looking pale yellow-gold. MIld, bland, grainy aroma - gets some sour edges as it warms. Thin body. Flavour is pretty much non-existent, but what is there is not very pleasant - sour, under-fermented, crap!

Bottle. Pours a yellowish-water body with a small white head. Smells like corn and asparagus, among some other vegetables. Devoid of any substantive flavour. Poor in every conceivable facet.
