Plain-o. nothing bad or really good about this beer. tastes like plain old regular lagerish beer. I like the lack of a label and the clear glass, looking at beer. nice concept. wish the beer was more interesting. ehhdayton (1113), USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Oct 26, 2005 Sleeman Original Dark has a malty aroma. The color is reddish and the head is a long lasting tan. The flavor starts off with a malty sweetness and finishes with a slight bitterness. The aftertaste is very short lasting. | 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Oct 21, 2005 this really isn’t very good for a red ale, less so for a dark lager. they drink a lot of it up in Toronto, and I found it annoyingly pervasive, much like dandelions in my lawn. underhopped, too sweet, a poseur. pintbypint (1006), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

Amber/light brown in colour, decent white head with slight creamy consistancy. Predominantly caramel and light malt aroma, slight floral hop note, but weak. Malt taste, fairly sweet at first with some caramel notes, blends into light hop finish with a faint earthy note. MrRomero (1934), Nolanville, Texas, USA

| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Jul 6, 2005 "Dark," in this case, means "amber." Not much of a head. The aroma is caramel and butterscotch with little trace of the hops that the commercial description mentions. It’s fairly watery in the mouth. About the only flavor that it carries is caramel malts. There’s a bit of a dirty, earthy hop bitterness in the finish. What’s this doing in the Chicago area?
