Commercial Description:
Ruby red in colour, this all malt ale is brewed from a combination of roasted barley malts and English aroma hops. Smooth in taste. The hopping is generous but not bitter and has a unique flavour that has become a trademark for Sleeman.

NOTE: Known as "Sleeman Original Dark 50* Amber Ale" in the US.

I dont know what it is, but I did like this. Lots of sour molasses, some bittersweet caramel malt. Tastes like adjuncts as well, but not terribly so. Interesting light breadiness on the finish. Clear reddish-amber color. small head, alcohol and sweet malt smell. Grainy texture, lightly carbonated.

I got the variety pack which claimed Sleeman was Canada's number one craft brewer. After drinking the three beers in the case I can assure you this is not the case. Or maybe the Canadian definition of craft brewer is different than mine.

Looks like your average amber beer. Nice half inch frothy cream head. Smells quite nice for Sleemans, nice malty smell to it. The taste is a metallic malty sweetness that really isn't that bad. I must admit that coming into this beer I wasn't expecting much and I am quite surprised at the outcome. Too mad the metallic flavor is the most prominent. Nice effort.

Not all that dark, actually. The taste is nice and malty and a little sweet. Medium dry finish, with lingering sweet candy.

Nice head and lacing.. Nice ice tea color with some carbination. Flavor is a bit bland, but no off tastes to it. Decent enough that I would select it if it was in a bunch of mega brews. Too bad they use clear bottles and have that strange neck shape.

Musky, old basement. Tangy and metallic can taste, but it came from a bottle. Tastes like water left outside in a coffee can.

Nice foamy, frothy head and a dark hue. Surprisingly drinkable. A little weird flavoring (like corn) but a nice amount of carbonation. Taken for what this is (horrid macro piss) I was pleasantly satisfied.

This tasted like expensive Old Pyle. Thin head, nose of corn and malt, and a distracting palate. It wasn't skunky, it just wasn't worth the price.
