| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 19, 2008 Pours a dark, warm, almost opaque mahogany with a decent head. Aroma is malty with hints of spice and yeast. Flavor is well-rounded, mainly malty with some hops and touches of spice and smoke. Mouthfeel is nice and edgy so it goes down rough. johntreeter (122), Greenwood, Indiana, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 4, 2008 11.5 oz bottle Dark 50 version. Pours a medium amber color with a lasting off white head that left good lacing. Aromas of malt and white bread. Malt dominates the flavor, but has an interesting light and smooth hop finish. Light to medium body with a slightly dry texture and nice soft carbonation. A good beer that I will drink again and very cool bottle (even though it’s a half ounce shy). phishpond417 (1953), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Jun 4, 2008 It’s been a while since I have had this one, purchased in a 12 pack variety of Sleeman beers: it pours an almost translucent copper colour with a small off white head. Plenty of caramel and semi-sweet malted notes, flavor is mildly acidic with soft biscuity malts. jbuzz (664), South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 1, 2008 THOUGHTS: Sort of British with a North American Twist. The flavor was nice up font but the finish flavor was not so nice. Not a great beer, but a lot better than I thought it would be. It was full of malty goodness. Not the greatest flavor, but a very distinctive flavor. Bought it mostly for the bottle, so this was a nice surprise. Bonus point for bottle.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, medium to dark amber with a small to average head that kept a slight sheet. The aroma was moderate caramel and grain malt, light herbal hops and slight fruit and a little citrus too. The initial flavor was moderately sweet and lightly to moderately acidic; while the finish was heavily sweet, moderately acidic, very lightly bitter and sour with a short duration. The flavor was caramel malt with some citrus and a little sour fruit with just a touch of hops that increased as it warmed. The medium body was a little dry and somewhat syrupy with sort of soft carbonation that later seemed fizzy and a light astringent finish with just a touch of metallic also. esjaygee (1581), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA

Light tasting of caramel and sugar. Pretty bland, mildly astringent, not much going on here. puggy211 (596), cordova, Tennessee, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 14, 2008 11.5 fl oz, Dark 50 version. Dark iced-tea color with a medium and lasting head. Caramel and earthy spice aroma. Caramel front turns slowly to become more grain, green herbs, dried wood, and toasted walnut. Soft, light-medium body has just a little tongue tingle and just enough drying on the finish. Well-balanced and subtle flavors make this a surprisingly good session beer.
