Commercial Description:
Ruby red in colour, this all malt ale is brewed from a combination of roasted barley malts and English aroma hops. Smooth in taste. The hopping is generous but not bitter and has a unique flavour that has become a trademark for Sleeman.

NOTE: Known as "Sleeman Original Dark 50* Amber Ale" in the US.

Brown amber color, no much of an aroma, watery feel with a flat palate. not much hops to speak of and taste is only slightly malty and rather bland.

Nose of light malt & spice, flowers, and a touch of vanilla. Pours a sparkling copper with amber ruby highlights. The nice cascade resolves into a mostly lasting tall sticky off-white head that is both creamy and rocky. The very neutral flavor has moderate acidity and a brief finish. Not much happening here. The light body is creamy and soft.

Gives off almost no aroma. Dark red color with a frothy off-white head. Smooth and malty, almost like an irish red. Boring but refreshing. Mediocre beer. Can find beer just as good for far less.

found this for 3.50 a six pack at albertsons liquor so i was expecting it to be terrible. turns out it was a decent dark beer. sweet malt with a hint of hops.

Rated 5/29/06: Mellow amber, light amber in color with a thin white head no lacing and decent carbonation. Aroma is a standard scent of sweet malt with a hint of caramel. Mouthfeel is a bit watery and thin but still enjoyable. The flavor is slightly above par. Good malt presence, again slightly thin to the palate but overall very enjoyable.

Light chestnut brown. Aromas of fresh bread, a surprisingly good dose of hops, and an ambiguous herbal accent. Creamy palate with increasing fizz. Meek light-roasted coffee flavour with mild milk chocolate aftertaste and plenty of hops throughout the flavour cycle. A good dark lager -- one worth going back for again.

Decent dark beer. Colour is medium brown with nice malt notes, could use more hops.
