| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 18, 2007 The first thing I noticed was the thick, foamy head. I could only pour two glasses in a 36 oz mug. I could taste the alcohol, it had a little bit of a bite. beerguy101 (3946), Newark, California, USA
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Jan 14, 2007 This dark lager pours a medium amber color from a 33cl bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is caramel and sweet, touch of toast. Light to medium bodied lager. Malts are caramel and sweet. Hops, ) There are hops here?) are slightly earthy. Tastes like a bunch of other macros. Not really objectionable, because there is no flavor here. Bland, bland, watery and boring. Perhaps a little more flavor than a diet coke, but not much. Mouthfeel is thin. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. frankenkitty (1903), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jan 5, 2007 Rating for Sleeman Dark Amber 50
Pours dark amber in color with moderate carbonation & a short whitish head that fades to cloudy islands. Stale caramel evident from the neck of the bottle, while mild hops come off as vegetal after the pour. Flavor of a stale, semi-oxidized dunkel. There is a sweetness detached from otherwise flat malts. And there is the peaty, slightly alcoholic presence of a Scotch Ale. Confusing. Lightly syrupy in the mouth with a spicy lilt.

Aroma is very lite, a little caramel malt and almost indescipherable roasted malt. Taste is sweet caramel malt, molasses and very little (bitter) hops. Medium body. Medium molasses finish. | 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Dec 5, 2006 Updated: Jan 8, 2007Poured from a bottle into a shaker, from the Sleeman variety pack. Pours a dark brown, but certainly not a very dark ale. Thin white head, fades fast. No lacing at all. Aroma of malt. Slightly less carbonated than the other Sleeman products. Finishes clean with a slight bitter aftertaste. So far the best of the variety pack, which isn’t saying that much. DJC (238), USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Dec 1, 2006 Pleasant amber color, with a slightly off-shite head. Relatively faint, roasted malt aroma. Balanced hop and malt flavor. Finished cleaner than I thought it might. Quite drinkable, and probably one of the better Sleeman offerings.
