| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Jul 11, 2006 In my opinion Sleeman makes some of the best smelling beers on the planet. I realize that doesn’t always equate great taste. But every Sleeman I’ve rated was a delight just to whiff. This one is no exception: Aroma of honey, bread, and cookie dough. And slightly (just slightly) of vanilla. Almost smells like a flat root beer.
Dark cream colored head doesn’t foam up, but floats on top. A cloudy brown color it pours, almost like ice tea. A sternly flat flavor. Little taste at first, but a decent enough aftertaste. Many dark beers try to go for the coffee/chocolate path, Not this. This is more like imitation barley. Good, but not great. But it is good. And sometimes good is good enough. | 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jun 24, 2006 A head that lasts is its feature, and there is a light amber colour. Smell is cheesy though a hint of malt there. rather very dry and on thin side, average for Sleeman. I taste some hop, but not too tasty. Yes this is an example of the style, but a mediocre one.
