Sleeman Silver Creek Lager

Typical pale golden colour, highly carbonated with a fast fading white head and some lace. Thin aroma, malty with some faint fruit and flowers. Flavour is very thin with very little hoppiness. Not offensive but not that good either.

Initial skunkiness disappears quickly leaving a fruity light malt aroma. Clear golden coulour with white head that recedes to a very thin cover. Floral and fruity flavour with fair bitterness in the finish. Body is light with decent carbonation. Not awful but certainly no pilsner... Bottle (clear).

Clear golden body with an average head that fades quickly. Strong skunky aroma with malty hints. Why do they persist in using clear bottles? Taste is decent and bears some floral and bready notes. Honest bitter final. Without its horrible nose, it could be a fair average lager.

Nice golden color,small fast disappearing head.Nice light aroma of fruit and hops with a slight honey like aroma coming through as well.The taste is malt and decentl hopped with a slight fruit presence and an almost medicinal side that is coming through,slightly bitter at times with a medicinal after taste.Not a real good beer but adequate at best.It would do ok on a hot summer day but it’s not a brew that i will be indulging in very often.

Bottle- Off gold body with a head that just forms around the edge of the glass. Dry , malty nose with some sweet aromas. Malty taste with some sweet fruitiness. Dry with a slight bitter aftertaste. Well balanced, and tasty, just nothing out of the ordinary.

Bottled. Golden larger with a fine white head. Attractive and well behave in a lovely Tuburg glass. A moderately proportioned larger with moderate maltiness and bitter finish.

This is an okay Canadian lager, actually slightly above average. It pours okay for its "non-head-oriented" style, a typical short and brief foam and minimal lacing (nonetheless its texture _is_ too watery). Silver Creek advertises itself as having only a fleeting after-bitterness. I find a rather strong after-bitterness -- their advertising consultant apparently doesn't know recognize the complexities of beer terminology enough to realize that a strong "after-bitterness" can actually be considered a positive by some (including myself). I also like the light gold color showing through the no-frills crystal clear glass; after all, this beer style isn't meant to keep long and it actually can enhance the experience to be able to look at a clear, no-label bottle of beer. One thing though: even though this is a bottled product there is a surprising metallic tinge to it which is pronounced in this type of beer as opposed to, say, peaty canned Boddington's Ale. This metallic taste lingers in the aftertaste as well. There's also a certain element of an artificial sweetness over and above the natural malt/grain sweetness -- as if they drop a sugar cube in each 6-pack in an attempt to subliminally enhance it. In summary, 3 or 4 of these are great, though it can become a bit lethargic beyond that.

standard lager - nothing out of the ordinary here; I didn't notice any "extra body" or "after-bitterness".
