6/09/2009: Sleeping Lady Barley Wine is an impressive brew. It is the color of oak and its aroma and flavor are sweet, malty, and laden with caramalized sugar, and rich, maple syrup-like qualities. There is some dry woodiness in the middle along with cherry. There is barely and alcohol burn in this smooth brew. This barleywine is excellent and totally drinkable to the point of being dangerous!

Sample (draught) at the Snow Goose Restaurant/Sleeping Lady Brewing Company in Anchorage, Alaska. Rating #2 for this beer.

Note: All Sleeping Lady Old Gander Barley Wine is barrel aged. However, this beer listing is for a special blend of several vintages of Sleeping Lady Old Gander Barley Wine dating back to 2005.

Brewed in 2007. Clear copper color with a tan head. Big wood barrel, sweet bourbon aroma with pit fruits. Smooth full body. Great flavor is whiskey vanilla with sharp caramel, pit fruits, wood char, and spicy sherry oxidation. Warming alcohol twang to finish. Fantastic example of a barrel aged Barleywine.
