Jonte (365), Gothenburg, Sweden May 24, 2008 Bottle. Brown color with a beige head. Malty, sweet and lightly roasted aroma with notes of english hops, butterscotch, fruit, caramel and alcohol. Sweet and malty taste with fruit, earthy/dusty hops, nuts, caramel, smoke, and some bitterness.
larsga (2132), Oslo, Norway Feb 29, 2008 Medium offwhite head. Amber body with light carbonation. Delicate sweet roasty toffeeish aroma with caramel, pepper, and gingerbread notes. Sweet roasty caramelly taste with burnt toffee notes. Earthy, smoky background. Oily mouthfeel. Faintly dry-and-sweet aftertaste, almost a bit cloying in its sweetness, with grassy hops. Good, but too sweet, and lacking in character. Reminds me a bit of the Norwegian "gold" lagers. Might improve with aging. (0.5l bottle no 3274 of vintage 2007 at Tre Små Rum, Göteborg.) mybestfriend (250), Gothenburg, Sweden Feb 25, 2008 2007 bottle (#3254). Pours a dark amber colour with an off white head. Very malty in the nose. Loads of caramel, molasses, some dried fruits and some smokiness. Flavour is rather sweet and very much about the malts (even though you do feel some hops). Loads of caramel and molasses. Roasted and smoked notes as well. A bit thin on the mid-palate. Good finish - once again the caramel but with much more smokiness and some bitterness. Not bad at all! jacob_wennbom (254), Uppsala, Sweden Feb 23, 2008 I think this one is Slottskällan’s best. Qutie full. Lots of caramell and malt. Nicely balanced sweetness/bitterness and a soft round smokiness that I can’t get enough of. Ingevara (458), Hindås, Sweden Feb 21, 2008 2007 production. Brown sturdy brew with lots of sweet caramel, figs and prunes, and a hint of smoke. More carbonation than I expected. A very likeable beer, a bit like a german doppelbock.
