Poured a very deep red brown color with a small beige head. The aroma was mildly sweet with some dark fruit and tobacco. Some doughy notes. The flavor is a little eastery and earthy with chocolate on the tail. Light hoppy finish. Semi-dry with a medium body and some warmth in the throat.

The beer poured brown with notes of some spice and fruit. The palate showed the same spice and some of the more tree fruits on the finish. It had a nice long finish.

Draught @ the brewery: Malty aroma was a bit faint. Smelled of alcohol, wood, a little Belgian spices, medicine, and yeast. Poured a ruby-brown color with a medium-sized, creamy, off-white head that lasted. Good lacing. Flavor was a little sweet. Malty, with notes of alcohol, coriander, nutmeg, toasting, earth, clove, and a hint of banana. Medium body. Dry, sticky texture. Dry finish. Overall, a solid Abbey Dubbel. Just not one of my favorite styles.
