May 23, 2005 Hand bottled from a growler: Pours a clear deep mahogany with a thin, whispy, nicely-lacing cream-colored head. Has a nIce fresh piney, hoppy aroma with good toasty and lightly sweet caramel malt. Body starts full and malty with good carbonation throughout leading to a bittersweet, crisp, dry, and well-hopped finish. A nicely brewed, enjoyable IPA. Not as assertive as some other types of hops, but Ahtanum taste pretty good. Many thanks to richlikebeer for the sample!

May 20, 2005 bottle from growler via richlikebeer. pours red hued brown with a yellowish thick cream head. floral hop aroma with some maple notes. tree bark and citrus lemon flavor that fades to a dry marshmallow like finish that has some lingering pine tree aspect. hmmm, floral, citrus, and pine in one ipa, that is nice. a very drinkable beer, and great after a long workout. thanks, Rich.

May 20, 2005 hand bottled from a growler and sent my way courtesy of Richlike beer. I’ve said in the past, that I am not a hop head. but as the weather warms; " the times, they are a changin." the color of this IPA is definitely darker than most, a reddish, tarnished copper in color with a frothy off- white head that fades to lace. the aroma of grassy, floral hops are very present but don’t smack you in the face as hard as other beers and the mouthfeel is consistent with a good medium-bodied brew. the flavor is good but could stand to be a little bit maltier to offset the dry, bitter grapefruit-like finish. all-in-all a very nice IPA which I enjoyed very much, thx Rich.

May 16, 2005 from phoenixville, might be the darkest standard ipa ive seen, a dark amber/reddish color with a quickly fading white creamy head. nose is bitter smelling hops in a huge way, but there is just enough malt going on in the back to hold the bitterness under control in the taste. very strong aftertaste that lingers for a while. not bad, but nothing spectacular.

May 14, 2005 Draught at Pheonixville: Sweet with carmel and honeysuckle as well as a little citrus and pine in the nose. Color is orange. Sparkling, with frothy, white, foamy head. Tastes of wood, citrus and some pine. Interesting flavor. VERY dry, which I love. Not the best of their IPAs, but one of the dryest!

Apr 26, 2005 This one was much better than the Glacier IPA. A dark orange appearance with a moderate head. Oranges rules the roost on this one. A big orange flavor. Some grapefruit present in the aftertaste. No sweetness exists at all. Not bad.

Apr 25, 2005 This may be my favorite of the Sly Fox IPAs. The Ahtanum hop doesn’t smack you over the head, and it is on the dry side, but the balance and complexity was through the roof on this one. It is a tad darker than the others I’ve had. Just excellent.
