Draft at the Phoenixville location, July 2006. An amber beer with a rim of beige head. The aroma is sweet with notes of caramel and toffee. The flavor is sweet toffeeish, but also light notes of butterscotch and whiskey, leading to a dry end with a slight note of alcohol.

On tap at the Sly Fox in Royersford. Poured a darker brown color with a small off white head. Earthy aroma and tastes. Light caramel. Kind of a fizzy body that I didn’t like too much.

This beer rocks! Deep, crystal clear mohogany hue. Medium-sized white head with excellent, thick lacing. Aromas of caramel, milk chocolate, English toffee and molasses. The flavor is malty, rich and caramely up front. Very well-balanced with a lightly bitter hop presence on the backside. Full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation. Long astringent, dry finish. Excellent brew! World Class! Looks like I'm the only one, so far, who thinks so.

Pours dark amber with good head and lacing. Tastes malty, with some cognac, slight hops, and some roasty flavor. As with all SF beers, this one is well balanced.

Sample at the brewpub. Clear medium copper, malty nose, fairly dry and earthy, not very exciting and a bit watery. Little to say here; this was a disappointment after several excellent samples.

Cask pours an amber body with a bubbly head. Malty with a hint of smoke, butterscotch and toffee. Dry and thin. Decent.
