Nov 29, 2006 2006 bottle - foamy, clear copper pour - it’s got the pretty standard Christmas Ale smell we’ve all come to expect, along with some light chocolate and hints of fruit preserves - the carbonation is a little harsh in the mouthfeel - a well developed/balanced spice character, with some peppery hints around the edges - very mild sweetness, with fruit flavors of strawberry and black cherry - there is a very warming quality to this beer that is certainly not from alcohol, but rather, from tthe well-combined spices - gets a little thin near the end, but otherwise I’m really enjoying this.

Nov 29, 2006 Bottle via mystery swap from DocLock (thanks Jeff!). Pours a dark mahonay brown with a small beige head. Nose is spicey and fruity. Allspice, ginger, cinnamon, strawberries, toasted grains. Flavor is the same with some added hoppiness and acidity in the finish. Light/medium body. Overcarbonated. Also a bit of chalkiness in the aftertaste. Medium bodied. Not bad at all.

Nov 27, 2006 2006 Draught - Amber color with light spicy-fruit aroma. Tastes alot like a pumpkin beer - spicy, sweet, nothing special. Still better than a fruit wine though.....

Nov 27, 2006 06 Christmas Ale-GBof A PA-750 ml bottle-pours a light tan head and hazy copper color. Aroma is spice, medium malt-sweet. Taste is initial burst of spice, medium malt-sweet and hops bite then finishes with discordant spices. OK beer. OK carbonation.

Christmasy red berries aroma. translucent garnet beer with short beige head. soapy pumpkin-beer floral flavor not working, mess of spices and fruity things in poor proportion and not much beer flavor to hold it up. ginger, allspice, clove, and blech. unbalanced. this is the end of the line between me and sly fox - it can’t be the draft vs bottling thing now. I keep trying and I’ve never even had a decent beer from this place. We got a free pint glass for buying this at a special event but no one wanted to finish the stuff so we ended up leaving the glass.

Nov 22, 2006 Had this 2006 vintage botttle at a sales meeting. Very highly spiced. Smelled of cinammon, nutmeg and spices. The taste was similar with a great malt balance. This is the perfect beer for a Holiday party. No one can not like this. Even heated this would probably be delicious.

Nov 17, 2006 Updated: Nov 21, 20072006 bottle. A very slightly hazy copper color. Aroma of gingerbread spices. taste of gingerbread, raisins, maybe a slight hoppines to finish. It overpowers you with gingerbread flavor.

2007 Bottle. Clear ruby-copper with a large head. Aroma was caramel malt brown sugar and spices. A lot less ginger this year, and heavier on the allspice and cloves. The cinnamon stands out. It’s a much better drink spicewise IMO.
