Caramel malt and semi-sweet aroma. DMS aroma giving a light corny and sulfur nose. The flavor was mildly sweet with notes of caramel and toffee. Semi-sweet finish with a mild bitterness. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Mar 6, 2007 The aroma was fairly estery and fruity with an acrid metallic note. Malt was certainly present with a light caramel character and a bit of hop in the nose. The beer poured on the hazy side into the glass and was amber with hardly any head at all. The flavor was malty with a nice crisp character from lightly spicy hops. The flavor far outshined the aroma. The flavor was nutty with a light toast and a good balance between malt and hops. Some caramel was notable as well. The body was medium and the finish went to dry with lasting Munich malt toastiness into the aftertaste. A very nice tasting Munich Dunkel, but the aroma and appearance came up short. 12 ounce can. beastiefan2k (1605), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 20, 2007 Can can caaannnn, how do u like, how do you like it. Poured into an old school Lowenbrau lager glass. Initial head is big, settles down into a medium lacing. Color is crystal clear dark copper, completely lucid. Aroma is slightly nutty and slightly lagered fruitiness. Taste is very clean with slight nuttiness, no off putting lagered fruitiness. Very simple and traditional. Average mouthfeel, low bitterness, clean mineral water with slight malty aftertaste. Nice enough, I have many worse dunkels and this pleasantly not off-putting. argo0 (6987), Washington DC, USA

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Feb 16, 2007 Courtesy dickinsonbeer. Clear dark amber/light brown with a large, frothy white top. Aroma and flavor of toasty malt, light grains, and some chemical elements. Light/medium body, balanced. Drinkable, but unimpressive. HogTownHarry (4025), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 11, 2007 Can (12oz). Hazy copper with a huge fluffy lasting taupe head. Very grainy aroma (fresh, rich, oat-y - nice), with yeast and floral hops, some sugar notes and a little lemon zing, quite peaty on warming, but it’s got that Islay hessian/iodine tinge too, sadly. Tastes like it smells only smokier; heavier peat, some iron sharpness, like it was made with hard water. Light, thin body, mild carbonation, mild astringency and a slightly vegetal linger - not bad though. puzzl (2648), New York, New York, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Feb 7, 2007 Dry, malty aroma is a bit thin. Some cigarette smoke, lemon, orange zest, cigar. Good complexity if you really dig for it. Flavor befits the style and has the same cigar smokiness which is nice. A bit fruity I think for the style. Some caramel notes too. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 28, 2007 12 oz can from LeopoldStoch. Pours an amber brown color. Smell is some roasty hops and caramel. Although it’s fairly dark, this is quite an easy drinking beer. It had a slight bit of sourness to it which was strange. other than that, it’s a fairly nice lager. this would be good on a summer day. Im impressed by the beers I have had from Sly Fox.
