I pick up some yeastiness and toasted malt in the aroma. Nothing very exciting though. There is quite a bit of butterscotch mixed in with the caramel malt and slightly roasty flavor. The beer has a medium-light body and an average palate and a slightly disappointing mouthfeel. I had pretty high expectations after the <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/sly-fox-pikeland Fox Pikeland Pilsner, but unfortunately this offering from Sky Fox just didn’t deliver. It is average at best overall. However, the taste does seem to improve as it warms up. The buttery quality subsides a bit and more of the caramelized maltiness and light chocolate becomes apparent along with some dry and grassy hoppiness and bitterness. The beer also begins to smooth out somewhat.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 16, 2007 Can from Jasonmech. Thanks Jason. Pours a hazy light brown with a thick yellow white head. Nose is fruity pebbles and pop tarts upon first sniff. Gets a little more toasted and caramel malty as it warms up. If I was 6, I would have loved it. Flavor is dark malts, a little salty, some metal notes and much less sweet than the nose suggests. Despite it all, still pretty on point for the style from what I have tasted. blankboy (3207), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 11, 2007 Can. Pours a clear amber-gold with a massive fluffy off-white head. Aroma of lightly toasted caramel malt, bread, sugar, light floral hops and some slight vegetal notes. Flavour of slightly toasted caramel malt, fruit, floral hops and a hint of sugar -- pretty good, I prefer the taste over the aroma. Medium bodied. A decent Dunkel. cheapdark (2017), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Aug 26, 2007 Updated: Dec 31, 2007$3 for this 12 oz can at Barley & Hops in Bethel Park. Pop the lid for the big foamy explosion, uncontrollable off white foaming in the can and when you pour it into the glass. The aroma is that of many cheaper lagers I’m familiar with, I’d say sweetish earthlike and corn but I don’t see corn on the ingredients. On the palate there is a tingling above average carbonation, very nice! The color is darker than the typical pale yellow american beer. Its more like brown brown orange (11000). Certainly has a warming alcohol bite when it finds it way down your throat. Surprisingly has a maple taste to it, but it is not overly sweet. An industrial bitterness builds on the back of the throat with each sip. At times it seems to have a plastic taste to it. Finish is well behaved but that plastic industrialness seems to hang for a while. I’m not sure why others think this is so good when it comes across like a cheaper american lager in enjoyability. bu11zeye (5505), Frisco, Texas, USA
