DavidP (1710), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Mar 3, 2008 Can. Copper brown body over a dense tan head. The nose starts with an acidic roast bite and levels to toasted Munich. Woody, green hops start a flavor that’s balanced by dry toasted wheat bread. Thin mouthfeel. Best canned lager in the country I bet!
JPDIPSO (4210), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Aug 10, 2008 Very active can. Tall, deflating, bubbly beige head atop a ruby tinged copper colored liquid. Dry caramel and DMS scents. Nothing to get interested in, in the aroma. I start to get some iodine and other medicinal scents as well the longer this one sets. LIght sweet malt and light licorice in the flavors. Some pumpernickel and other grainy breads as well. Hints of herbal hops, but more a distraction than an addition. Somewhat thin in acidic in feel. Unfortunately the type of brew that give lagers a bad name. tarc (47), New Jersey, USA Jul 2, 2008 Can: Medium-dark amber with beige head. Light aroma of both malts and hops, Lighter taste than I expected, then I looksed at the can again and it does say "Lager" in big letters. slight sweet and smooth finish.
Not big on beer from a can but this was pretty refreshing.
jde123 (704), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA May 5, 2008 Can at the 2008 goat races. Poured a dark amber with a nice aromatic cascade of sweet malts and caramel. Quite pleasant, I had a couple of these, and wish Sly Fox had a wider distribution. illinismitty (1397), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Mar 31, 2008 Can from Super Saver in Pennington, NJ. Pours a very nice dark amber with a beige head. Aroma of bread and lightly roasted malts. Medium to light bodied with a refreshing texture- although slightly on the thin side. Flavor of sweet dark bread, wet grains, tea, munich malts, roasted malt, and nuts. This has a nice balancing herbal bitterness. Some slight dryness on the finish with a slight tang. Fairly complex for a lighter style session beer. A little more body would be ideal for my personal tastes. Under rated IMO. sinkr (129), Lusby, Maryland, USA Mar 25, 2008 Draft->juice glass (tasting@brewery): pours a spare, off-white, lasting head that exhibits spare lacing atop a clear, dark tawny body. Light aroma of yeast, palate is light body, thin texture, and bitter finish. Flavor’s duration is average, moderately acidic and bitter. Not a very inspiring brew.
