I can’t believe this is the first time I’ve had this. Pours burnt sienna with aroma of huge malt, some dark fruit, toffee, and caramel. Tastes very malty, with big toffee, caramel, some chocolate, and slight tobacco at the finish. Smooth, slightly ascerbic finish, and very well balanced and complex, as is the case with all Brian O’Reilly beers. BOR rules!

Poured a lightly hazy, brownish red color with a thin, light tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast, light chocolate, sweet caramel, butterscotch, and light anise? Taste of roasted caramel malt, nuts, light chocolate and smoke too. Finished with light, peppery alcohol. Very nice.

On tap at the Sly Fox in Phoenixville. Poured a medium reddish-brown color with a small off white head. Aromas and tastes of malts (caramel and toffee) and somewhat bready. Light chocolate in there as well.

bottle. dark cranberry/brown pour with very thin head. sweet fruit, nutty, peppermint, floral aroma. rich, smokey, woody malts. . sweet molasses. earthy. coffee undertones. Despite the large maltiness the beer remains light and remarkably drinkable. light fruit. some alcohol warming. unique and very enjoyable.

Draft Royerford location. Dark amber with small white head. Aroma was of caramel, light peat, and smoke. The taste was the same with nice roasted flavor. Sweet and medium bodied. Better than I thought it would be.

Bottle: Poured dark brown\dark amber with a light tan head. The aroma was smokey sweet with hints of caramel and chocolate. The flavor was about the same with a nice sweet malty finish. Overall another great beer from a great brewer.

Pheonixville. Poured a cherry brown color with a foamy, biege head. Toasted malts and carmel on the nose. Flavors were sweet smoked malts, carmel, figs, and licorice. Final stop after a stop at Monk’s for lunch, and Manayunk for a sampler.

Clear a transparent amber ruby with a spotty-lacing light tan head. Aroma of sweet dark caramel smoky peat and a touch of light fruity esters. Starts with good fullness and malty sweetness. Finishes slightly drier and warming with some peppery smoky character. A pretty decent Scotch ale.
