Commercial Description:
Helles Bock is a bright, clear golden interpretation of a classic bock beer (see Sly Fox Slacker Bock). Made with all German Pils malt, this is the perfect expression and experience of that great malt you'll ever find in a glass.

At the goat Races....Arrived golden, clear, no head whatsoever. I suspect sanitiser or detergent on the glass, for head can be genterated with violent stirring, or pouring into a rinsed glass. Very poor as far as presentation goes by the brewpub. Aroma is malty and clean, maybe a touch of fruityness. Flavor is malty with a slight touch of hops. Very dry on the palate. Perhaps slightly ale-like. But not sure if it is the improperly rinsed glass or not. My main complaint about how this was made is the dry character and the lack of malt depth.

On tap at the Phoenixville location for the 2006 Goat Races. Pours a translucent golden with an average foamy white head that left some lacing. Aroma of grains, sweet maltiness, ice tea and some citrus. Flavor of grains, malts, lightly hopped, cereal with a slight bitterness.

July 2005 - Reading the reviews above mine, I’m wondering if they poured the wrong beer into my sampler glass. Poured clearish yellow...certainly not the bronze/gold described above...looked and tasted similar to the Helles Lager. Seemed to be lacking the typical bock flavor. It was grassy/haylike in flavor. Good but definitely not great.

Bronze color with a small, off white head that left lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel and grassy mal. More caramel malt, grassy hops, very fruity, with a bitter citrus finish. Light alcohol was noticed as well.

at the goat races, looks clear and golden in the glass with very little amounts of white head. sweet grassy aroma and a very high hop profile, i thought a little too much for a bock, a little late malt sweetness, but very little. a medium body made this a "different" bock than what i was used to.

Helles Bock ‘06–on tap-pours a big foamy white head and pale yellow color. Aroma is faint sweet. Taste is faint sweet malt, grassy hops. Mild carbonation.
