Courtesy boboski. Fairly clear, dark chestnut red body. Virtually no head or lacing. The aroma shows candy sugar, dark caramel malts, light chocolate, vanilla, and hints of cherries. The flavor is quite sweet. Light caramel malts, brown sugar, vanilla, and light fruits encompass the taste profile. The flavors, however, don’t define themselves very well. Everything is sort of muddled together. The body is a little light for a quad. Its a little syrupy and lacking substance. Not a great quad by any means.

750 from MrBendo - thanks, Todd! I’ve had this one for about a year, and I’m thinking it must be a 2006? Anyways, it’s a deep ruby pour with basically no carbonation remaining (though I’ve no idea if it had any to begin with). Lovely nose of raisins, breads, and plums, a port-style sipper for sure. Mouthfeel is very thin, with no real depth to this dimension, alas. It’s a shame because the flavors are fairly complex, though I don’t feel they’re really coming alive as they were intended to. So in the end it’s too sweet and slick, falling a notch or two below what I expect from the style.

Thanks Kempleton for this one Bottle poured into a tulip produced a good two fingers worth of off white head. The body of this brew was a wonderful maroon color and the head left a little ring of lace around the glass Aromas of dark fruits and grapes filled my nose a good quad smell that is for sure. This had one of the best noses on it for an American Quad Flavors of dark fruits, caramel and a slight alcohol warmth that arose as it warmed in the glass medium to thick mouthfeel light carbonation on the tongue Drank it today and I must say I enjoyed every drop I was quite impressed by this brew. Dead on Style wise for a Quad, I would have thought it was a Belgian. Great job Sly Fox keep it up. I would by it again for sure

750ml bottle from premier gourmet. i really dont understand the low ratings on this one. it is a very good example of the style in my opinion and i can find no major faults. its right up there with DFH Fort for all time most underrated brews. enough ranting about other peoples ratings now its time for mine. pours deep brown with a solid tan head that laces the glass nicely. (4/5, not murky enough, not a big enough head for the style). aromas are of dark fruits and yeast but there is definantly a chocolate malt element in play here as well. (9/10, roasted malts show more then the candi sugar and yeast, also the yeast isnt trappist). flavours are typical of the style and while they are very good they lack the complexity and depth of the real standout abt/quads. overall id say that this is a damn fine atempt at a very intimidating style that was very close to being pulled off by this american brewer. the things i can suggest to make it better would be: different yeast with les filtration, less roasted malts and more candi sugar. good work sly fox! thanks for making this brew!

Clear brown with with tiny short lasting head. Sweet vinous aroma with overripe fruits, caramel and roasted malt. Sweet flavor with overripe fruits, caramel and roasted malt leading to a sweet finish with warming alcohol.
