Jmichael (529), Asheville, North Carolina, USA Mar 11, 2008 pours a clear gold with white fluffy head, fresh sweet hop aroma, sweet citrus hop front with bitter finish and dry aftertaste, strong initial with balanced finish. good and complex.
rocbyter (586), Waterbury, Connecticut, USA Jul 17, 2008 Burnt hop aroma. Clear orange color with a large almond head. Light malt beginning with a slight amount of alcohol finish is strong bitterness. Light palate for the alcohol. IMtheOptimator (1096), Bethel, Connecticut, USA Jun 23, 2008 Poured a clear amber with a large fizzy/frothy off-white head. Crisp aroma of pine and citrusy hops, a touch of alcohol. Flavor comes off predominantly bitter with pine and earthy grass flavors, some light grapefruit rind, and a slight metallic soapiness which takes away a bit from the experience. Not a whole lot of density or sweetness or viscosity to the body, which leaves it coming off a bit like a stronger regular IPA. Decent enough and reasonably drinkable, but I won’t see a lot of need to have this one again. tomthompson89 (1043), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 8, 2008 nice orange amber color, decent frothy head, nose is citrus and pine hops, some sweeter malt in there too i think. really bitter hops, seems english style hops to mehops r almost overpowering. ok but not my favorite style of hops whatever it is and lacks balance. Beerlando (1135), Orlando, Florida, USA May 29, 2008 Pours mostly clear, golden-orange in color. A foamy, off-white head shows decent retention, settling to a prominent, rocky, bubbly edge. Wet legging leaves hundreds of spots scattered about the glass. The nose is a bit of a letdown, with dry, leafy, green hop notes having faded from what seems like a once juicy, citrusy billing. Likewise, the malt profile seems to have staled, taking on a lightly sweet, dry, cardboard profile. Flavors are substantially bitter, with grassy, faded citrus notes clinging to the roof of the mouth. There’s a touch of toffee sweetness, but not enough to achieve a good balance. There’s some unwelcomed soapiness, as well. Medium-bodied, dry, and astringent, the mouthfeel doesn’t add much to the experience. Overall, this is not a very good IIPA. Decent at best. jsquire (1848), St. Marys, Ohio, USA May 24, 2008 Amber colored beer with a very sticky off white head. Surprisingly light hop aroma for a DIPA with some pine and floral notes. My initial reaction to this beer was "soap." The hops have some grapefruit and pine, but the soap is just distracting. Caramel sweetness and some breadiness from the malts. The finish is a tongue numbing bitterness of grapefruit pith, tangerine rind and that soap that I can’t shake.
