From a 3L bottle, via beastiefan2k. Pours a very cloudy gold body with a nice frothy white head. The nose is mostly bready malt, light spices, and heavy yeast with a bit of oxidation. The flavor is tasting a little bit over the hill, there’s some cardboard creeping in on the edges. Very yeasty and bready with caramel and a touch of candi sugar coming out especially on the finish. Soft and fizzy on the palate with a nice yeast slurry texture. Overall, not bad, but not a favorite from Sly Fox.

(BCTC, 2007 3L bottle, thanks Eugene) Medium off-white head atop murky orange body. Aroma is medium sweet, orange, yeast, some candi sugar. Taste is moderately sweet, candi sugar, yeast, some orange. Sofy medium body, low carbonation.

Big ol’ bottle courtesy of Eugene I think, at BCTC. Pours a hazy apricot gold with a thin white head. Citrus and honey on the nose. Thin to medium bodied, light sweetness. Ends with a large bitter, and slightly acrid finish.

Draft at the East Village Pub. Poured a clear gold color with a white head. Smelled of clove, cereal grain, baking spices, and a bit of banana. Light to medium bodied and dry on the tongue. Clove, citrus zest, and pale malt dominated the flavor. Some mild bitterness emerged at the end.

Growler from Big Z in tulip. Gold with ring head. Spicy yeasty sweet aroma. Honey melon spicy clove with bitter dry finish. Pretty good Belgian blond. I could sit by the canal in Brugge and enjoy this.

Tap at Barcade: Light golden pour with a wispy sporadic white head. Sweet rounded aroma- lightly bready (carapils) note along with crisp apple & pear notes over a dry yeastiness. Dense creamy carbonation. The flavor is a nice balance of dry/spicy phenolics and a semi-sweet bready pils base. The candi sugar is refined and doesn’t make it overly sweet. Light pear notes lead to a peppery (tettanger?) finish. Quite nice. I didn’t expect a decent BSA from these guys.

Pretty strong and sweet and smooth. Nice full body and creamy mouthfee. Some sweet fruit and nice malts. A touch of wood. Seems to have changed a bit from bottle to bottle. Two magnums from the draft I originally had. Still good but a little odd spice and more plain caramel.

Growler from Whole Foods Bowery. Pale golden beer with a thin white head. Aroma is pretty nice. Light clove, peach and soft spiciness. There is a lightly honeyed sweetness with a very Duvelesque character. Soft crackery Belgian malts on the back. Pretty lean-bodied with a very nice dryness. There is a light kiss of pear/apple and spice as well. Soft, lightly herbal bitterness. This is a pretty solid Belgian Strong Ale.
