JoeMcPhee (3692), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Nov 2, 2006 Hazy bright golden colour with a thick pillowy white head. Sweet spicy/yeasty aroma with a touch of sweatiness underneath it. Earthy and dusty. Coriander spiciness, orange peel and apple skins all make an appearance here. Spicy wheatiness that is particularly appealing. Flavour is fantastically dry with a spicy yeastiness underlying a soft flowery and wheaty flavour. A bit of lingering hop flavour makes its presence known as the temperature comes up a bit. Light lime citrus and green peppercorns all contribute to making this one of the tastiest saisons I’ve come across. Gorgeous brew.
blipp (724), Grand Island, New York, USA Aug 29, 2008 Bottle. Pours gold with a huge white head. Sweet aroma, a bit citric with plenty of spices. Flavor has spices and is a bit sweet and fruity. Citric, some grass and pepper, which leads to a dry finish. Nice. acrdz (4302), Boulder, Colorado, USA Aug 5, 2008 Sample from a bottle. Light yellow in color and cloudy in appearance with a soft white head. Weird nose of grain and spice, a but floral, but not really peppery or exciting at all, more of a herb-like spice note. Oily texture up front, lightly drying in the back, which is nice enough, but flavor-wise it comes across perfume-heavy and green, with a distinct oily vegetable note throughout. Okay overall, but a little weird and a little too green. joekinty (208), rockledge, Florida, USA Jul 28, 2008 On tap at tj finleys lemony wheaty flavors some farmhouse qualities sweet funky bready nose some honey and perfume taste reallt good sheatripper (809), Brooklyn, New York, USA Jul 28, 2008 Draught at Bar Great Harry. Hazy orange pour into a 3 Pistoles chalice. Frothy white head leaving spotty lacing. Floral and citrus aromas. Flavor of bready malts infused with citrus. Nicely dry and restrained spice/hop finish. Medium bodied. Refresingly citrusy but still balanced. Pretty decent saison. malrubius (423), USA Jul 28, 2008 750 ml bottle split in Duvel glass. Pale straw with lasting white head and lace. Lemongrass, spicy hops and mild vanilla aroma. Mild fruity sweet apricot with spicy hop and complex vanilla hop dry finish. Medium body and carbo. Refreshing yet complex and assertive. Excellent. Both this and Southampton are excellent saisons. Not sure why this one was $6.99 and Southampton is $11.99.
