12oz bottle. pours a very dark rusty brown with a french vanilla head. musty smell with nothing overpowering.. initial hit to the palate is very smooth with little hoppiness retention but a nice sturdy malt overtone on the tailend.. no heavy aftertaste it is a very easy ale to drink. lacks a heavy punch but a decent ale nonetheless

does not count  Oct 5, 2008 Best fucking ale on the planet. Period. It has the most full and robust taste of any ale around. The aroma after a Smithwicks has just been poured is the most amazingly heavenly scent ever in the history of mankind. Also, sidenote: the Blacksmith might be the single greatest creation in the history of the world.

Sep 29, 2008 Bottle. Pours a clear brown amber color with a large tan head that quickly fades. Taste is of roasted malt, caramel, is kind of sweet and dry in the finish. Similar aroma. Refreshing, very easy to drink and fairly tasty. Not a bad beer to have occasionally.

Fruity malty aroma with hints of pears and apples. not much hop aroma
Med brown color, clear, frothy white head with good retention
Sweet, malty, toasty, very little hop character, smooth, sweet finish
Medium body, light carbonation
Nice and smooth, lots of malt, not a lot of hops - balance skewed toward maltiness, but not too far to be unpleasant.

does not count Sep 26, 2008 Amber color, white head that thins somewhat quickly, good flavor, a personal favorite from the bottle, very solid, commonly found irish red.
Chipper (64), Red Lion, Pennsylvania, USA
Sep 25, 2008 Amber color with a minimal white head. Not much aroma, but maybe a little malt.
Flavor is pretty nondescript but not bad. A little hoppy and malty finish.
