Aroma of fresh roast coffee, smoke, and butter? (I thought I was crazy until I read hopdogs rating and saw that he found butter also). Had a hoppy and sour toffee flavor. Full body with an oily texture. Bad bottle? I’ll re-rate if I come across another bottle. hopdog (5602), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA
| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/20 | Feb 6, 2006 12oz bottles acquired in trades with Sutree and SpringsLicker (thanks!). Poured a dark black with an averaged sized off white head. So far so good. Major buttered popcord aroma and not much else. Tastes of lesser butter with some chocolate and roasted malts. I thought it was a bad bottle so I opened up my 2nd bottle right away. Less butter in the aroma but it was still there. 2 separate bottles from different people and almost the same. Yuck. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 24, 2006 Bottle courtesy of Beerandblues2, thanks Brad. Dark opaque pour, with a solid mocha skin atop. Creamy looking head, leaving a nice lacing. Coffee and robust malt, with some faint smoke afterwards. Sweet roasted malts at first, finishing wth smoked chocolatey goodness. Coffee too. Slightly thin bodied, but a good example of the style. mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 16, 2006 I had this one on tap as well as a take-out bottle. Nice coffee and chocolate aroma with the advertised roasty character. When warmed, it brings out more of the toffee taste, and from draught, I almost mistook it for an abita turbo dog or something along those lines. Best of the beers I experienced during my pigeon forge outing.... TN did not represent. awebster (165), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 17, 2005 12 oz bottle, via BeerandBlues2. Dark brown pour, clear, with a thin light brown head. Chocolate and cocoa nose with a touch of lactose and roasted malt. Lightly roasty flavor with accents of cocoa and coffee. A little astringent on the finish. Mouthfeel is a little thin, especially on the finish. Moderate carbonation. A decent middle of the road Porter, worth trying. allfreej (366), Louisville, Kentucky, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Nov 5, 2005 On tap at the Lenoir City Marina Calhoun’s. Dark brown, not much of a head and negligible lacing. No armoa to speak of. The flavor was malty, a little roasty, with a hint of coffee to it. Thin mouthfeel, and the flavor dissipated quickly without much in the way of hops in the finish. This was an indifferent Porter.
